TESO-X — Local services in New York

This place is wonderful! I spend a lot of money here already. But today's experience was terrible! When I went to check out, I first greeted the staff in Chinese. Maybe my voice was too soft and she didn't hear me, so she ignored me. She clearly looked like someone who could speak Chinese, but for some reason insisted on using English with me. I told her that I had membership. She responded with something but I didn’t hear it, so I repeated myself. She became visibly impatient and told me to enter my phone number into the system. I really don't know why she was acting very disdainful - not smile at all, staring at me with this sharp, piercing glare like I owed her money. Later, I even noticed another staff member speaking Chinese to her? Absolutely baffling! Teso-X is a Teso branch store focused primarily on anime-adjacent products and claw machines.

They sell multiple blind box products such as Sonny Angel and POP MART products such as Skullpanda and Dimoo. They also sell gundam model kits and other model kits.

The claw machine portion is pretty good as well. There are multiple staff restocking the products, so it is pretty easy to find machines that are filled with stuffed animals. The products range from Pokemon to Sanrio, as well as smaller machines that are filled with keychains or keys to get bigger products.

The claw machines are skill-based, as they open when they hit the top of the machine. You can easily grab the prize but it will open at the top, so maneuvering it over to the chute by dragging it is the best choice to win prizes. We won 2 prizes after spending around $15 on tokens, and each play is around $2-3.

Staff, especially the cashiers, got attitude problems for no reason. Simple requests are taken with snide remarks and passive-aggressive facial expressions + body language--almost as if it was inconveniencing them by asking for help, clarification, or purchasing multiple items. Absolutely unprofessional.

Blind box exchange for same-day purchases & equal value was very unclear regarding what items are allowed to be exchanged. It was not explained or shown that the exchange is only limited to whatever is in the small display window next to the sign. The staff did not explain that when asked about the exchange and acted annoyed for asking how the exchange process works and for wanting an exchange.

Otherwise, great variety of blind boxes & sets, organized & visual displays, and enjoyable to browse. I would come here again but the cashiers almost made me not want to buy...
