Connected Chef provides composting drop-off and locally sourced groceries from NY, NJ, & PA areas while supporting food-insecure families with their Lifeline Grocery Initiative. They operate on specific hours that are mainly weekend-focused, but they have events with live music and local vendors from Astoria and other neighboring areas.
The Farm stand includes an assortment of produce, including lettuce, carrots, onions and garlic, shallots, tomatoes, celery, apples and fruit, and more. They have goods such as beans, honey, granola, and hot sauce, and when the vendors are there during Saturday there are sweets and desserts including cupcakes, cookies, and empanadas made by small businesses in the area. They also feature events for kids, cooking, and camp/holiday specific activities. There's always something going on, and worth checking out.
They utilize their space well and have little garden planters and the compost pile boxes are also lined on the side. It's a large space where I see them load and unload produce in during the mornings of their operating days. We still need help getting by in food til our money budget food stamps arrive. This place if you come after 3pm on Friday they can help limited though some who come with left overs they don't sell. U can also go online to order boxes. If you can please do. For what you buy. Help many like me my wife and other families get food. When they run out.
