All statements contained in this review are based upon information a belief the sources of which are my own families experiences and opinions. I have seen that many of the headstones have been damaged during subsequent burials or knocked over and plots with perpetual have that have not been kept up. There are packs of wild dogs running about and the staff warned us not to remain by where one of our loved ones is buried back by the subway. The guards were nice enough to stand guard, but told us to make it quick as they could not stay long while we payed respect to our lost loved ones. It was to say the least when the guards felt so unsafe themselves to call in a second set as backup while they watched over us. We have several generations entombed here and they have perpetual care as well, yet they are not maintained either. When a headstone is damaged by the staff during a burial with a plot that has perpetual care they should replace it. When a headstone is broken during a subsequent burial they should replace it. When a headstone is caused to sink from a subsequent burial with a plot adjoining it that headstone should be relevelled. I cry every time to see family members and friends headstones damaged during the few times they do cut the grass or from subsequent burials in adjoining plots. It is ludicrous to have to have guards to ensure I do not get raped, murdered, or attacked by wild dogs. I would not use this Cemetery for anyone I love who has passed onto that distant shore over that far horizon. When you see them bring in a bulldozer where one will not fit and witness them damage a headstone first hand and shrug it off its disgusting. When you see damaged headstones from where they brought in a bulldozer where one wouldn't fit and a loved ones headstone is damaged and you can see that they did a recent burial nearby its disgusting. When the staff claims that headstone damage was from the elements, yet it was from a bulldozer its disgusting. When you point out look this was done when you buried a lost person nearby and you brought in a bulldozer your staff damaged the headstone, as well as other headstones, and they lie to you it is disgusting. When they say they can sell you a new headstone its disgusting. When they try to claim a plot does not have perpetual care that does its disgusting. When trash is left to blow about its disgusting. I would not be surprised if they were reselling old plots given some of the things my family has seen. When you see them selling burial plots in areas that they said would never be used for burial purposes its disgusting. Don't believe what I say go and look first hand for yourself! Draw your own conclusions, but look really look, watch, go around and look without the sadness of grief and you will see for yourself and be able to arrive at your own conclusions. Don't believe a plot has perpetual care on it look up in the records office any that you see are not maintained and you will see what I am talking about. Don't believe they're damaging headstones with bulldozers watch when they are opening a burial plot sometime. I am so disgusted I don't want to be buried nor would I. When I pass I'll be cremated which is my choice. I wish you well in your mourning and that the lords light shine upon you. This Cemetery needs to clean up its act. The Attorney General needs to step in and get this Cemetery to repair the damages they've done by replacing the damaged headstones as well as to get the security issues under control and to live up to the perpetual care that was paid for. Just my two cents, but take off your rose colored glasses and open your eyes to what is going on. No its not fairy land, but dang this is what they were paid for. No I don't expect them to work miracles, but I do expect them to do things right and to do right by those loved ones who they agreed to look over who have...
Read moreIt's a nice cemetery and a peaceful escape from the grind of the city, full of rolling hills and shady lanes. Quite pretty overall, some cool graves and architecture. However, I did not appreciate being followed around by the security staff for almost the entire time I was there. As soon as I walked in the gate I noticed a guy in a uniform was tailing me, walking about 50 feet behind me. I took a bunch of random turns and he followed me every time. I was going to ask him why tf he was following me and then he finally left, but a few minutes later someone in a van pulled up on the road behind me and took his place. It was distracting and unnerving to be tailed in this way when I was just trying to enjoy the peace of the cemetery grounds and check out the old graves. This was in broad daylight on a weekday, they had no reason to be doing this. They finally left me alone as I was making my way toward the exit...
Read moreGot lost here, once. trying to find great, great, great grandfather grave. No bathroom. The cemetery is maintained. My great, great, great grandfather was buried here. It always feels bleak coming here. Don't know why. Even after moving here from Manhattan, I didn't realize. how close it is to him. It was always a hassle coming here trying to find this place. But now it's easy. Just drive up a few blocks. Across the street from Popeyes southern fried chicken 🍗. Don't know why, but the ground is always so hard to walk on, like walking on rubber, I twisted my ankle once, trying not to fall. Had to dig up grandfather name stone(there only a rectangle stone in the ground with his name on it), before it can sink into the earth, and add some earth underneath to...
