The Westside — Local services in New York

It's hard to believe that racial segregation, stereotyping still exists in the 21st century, but, in NYC (?) at The Westside Shop at Madison, it very much does.

What is more amazing, however, is how this sales person with pixie like blond haircut took it upon herself, the item I was browsing, kept following me around the store, grabs the item I was interested in, then took it off from my hand and took it back to the cashier counter, and had it packed right away. Above that, questions me if I am to purchase it while she wraps it off?

I moved here from California and I adored this store because it reminds me of LA - until My horrible experience this last weekend. Not once ever - I have felt stereotype. She kept questioning my presence in the store.

I have shopped on Madison from Intermix, Sandro and Maje which were all friendly. They did not treat me the same way. Sandro is my favorite store.

After what is going on with our country , we must all work together to end this atrocity and that begins with our everyday behavior towards each human being. Bravo to The Westside Shop. I will not step in your store after my experience this weekend.

This is the WORST RUDEST PEOPLE! I was given a dress from the store from a dear friend. Unfortunately the dress did not fit. It looked terrible on me. I went to the store to see if I could exchange it. They refused. They said because the woman had gotten it on sale that I could not exchange it. This was given to me as a birthday gift. I have never been to the store before. But as I only shop on Madison Avenue where I live. I’m sure this sounds snobby. However the customer service there it was so rude, I didn’t want my money back.. I just wanted to exchange it. THEY REFUSED! I was surprised because as a first time customer I would assume that they would be kind to me. However being that I will never ever shop in the store again. They seem not interested in that so I’m letting you know never to shop there. I've been in this store 3 times and will never go back. My experience echoes the other reviewers'. The store workers are rude, unfriendly, judge-y. They follow you around, basically chasing you out of the store or sneering at you for taking something to try on. And God forbid you are shopping the sale section, you might as well be a speck of dirt on their shoe. 30 minutes prior to closing they loudly exclaimed "WOW IT'S GETTING LATE, ALMOST CLOSING TIME", rudely hinting to me to get out of the store. Then they promptly locked the door when I was still in there - 30 minutes prior to the store closing! I honestly cannot believe that these salespeople would treat any person this way, and I have given them multiple opportunities to redeem themselves.
