it is 8:15 pm I arrived home not to long ago. Today is the 10th of January. I am writing this review because of the distasteful experience I survived through today. As soon as I walked into the store, I checked out a MacBook 2023 M3 pro for a few moments, moved on, I was there, to purchase a AirPods 4th generation noise canceling headphones. I had just came from target on 125th street and they were sold out. upon walking over to the area I realized that was also the area to buy Apple Watch chargers. I had left my charger while I was on vacation at Texas, also had it on my wrist. I didnt see the USB-Type A to Apple Watch charger on the wall so I decided to venture further into the store. prior to I did notice the iPhone 16 pro max and decided to check it out. I still currently have a 14 pro Max. As I walked over to the iPhone the security guard, who was an older white male, with blacked out sun glasses small frame followed me. I also looked at him right in his eyes prior to walking out of the store to let him know I felt uncomfortable, I know he saw me see him and what he was doing...next, who was in my opinion profiling me the moment I walked into the door walked over to get a better look at what I was doing. prior to walking away from the apple section to see the cases a store associate whose name I unfortunately did not catch, if I ever visit this store again I will have full names of the people with whom I interact with, he was medium complexion, and had a beard that made him look around 20-25 years old. He asked me "sir do you need any help?" I responded "not yet let me look around a little longer" as I walked to the phone case section the security guard followed me. At first I was in disbelief that I was being profiled as someone who steals and needs to be followed around the store. unless I was interacting with a display item I kept my hands to myself and did not touch a single thing. Then I walked in some more and there was the security guard again...At this point this is when I decided to leave. I purposely went to that store to PURCHASE AirPods, a case and an Apple Watch charger. However I cannot support a company that profiles me upon walking in through the door. Piss poor shopping experience, I am a hispanic male, I had on sweats, a coat, scarf that wraps around my head and a hoodie, I had on a du rag since I just got my braids done today, and had no intention of messing them up. Next time I go to a Best Buy establishment and this is how I am treated I am going to call 911 and press charges on the security officer for harassment and stalking. when I walk into a Apple Store, target or any other establishment I am not treated like this...Yet today the folks at Best Buy were giving heavy pre - 1960 civil rights era vibes. Best of all I had the cash in my pocket to make this purchase. Really shitty shopping experience. I would also like to say that the sales associate only approached me and asked me if I needed help. while there were at least 3 other WHITE folks standing around me...Really interesting dynamic Best Buy...
Read moreBest Buy is the most convenient electronics and gadget store in NY. They're practically all over NYC, which eases a gadget junkie's pain. One of the best at providing a variety of gadgets that can be used for productive and positive purposes. Prices are also matched with other stores as well. Moreover after purchasing my last ear buds here, I can say the quality of this product was good.
Due to product quality assurances mentioned often by best buy, I have to minus two stars. Their refurbished products that are advertised as being tested sufficiently, to the point where a consumer might benefit from it, can be misleading. There have been reports even from CBC News Marketplace (they're diligent), that consumers have been let down when it comes to the quality of some of their refurbished products. The purchases of refurbished tech, made from their investigation, speaks volumes. Indeed, I myself have experienced issues with a couple of products I bought myself, that weren't refurbished. Though best buy's return policy has a few times negated that.
What about when the product gives out or malfunctions, a couple of months past the return policy though? In-store warranties can often be a legit hassle and only apply to products that aren't refurbished in most instances. Also, the majority of people who buy refurbished products from best buy, aren't made aware that these products come from third party sellers. Not only that, but best buy's policy is that you basically can't return these third party products to best buy. (Though it was purchased there, this is another hassle) Hence, the refurbished products they advertise as practically being top notch, isn't necessarily the case.
However, it's not realistic to think that you will never run into these kinds of problems while buying anything. Now CBC is in Canada, but best buy, is best buy, no matter where they're located. Not to mention, people have had these same issues in the States as well. I'm optimistic however, that these instances and occurrences in which these issues happen, can be rectified. As a consumer though, I would just be aware of these potential issues that might happen with a purchased product from best buy.
According to Best Buy's response regarding the feedback given, it's only fair to add another star. Having representatives that pay attention to concerns about their products says a lot. We can only be optimistic that the concerns that were pointed out, can be addressed, if it's within their ability to do so. This is the only true reason this review...
Read moreTerrible, awful, horrible. The store cannot be reached by phone. You reach different outsourced services. I went to the store to buy a product there was virtually no staff. The merchandise is below street level and there is one person posing as a security guard. Did not feel safe for one minute . after much searching I found a lady to help me . She was terrific! Her name is Jackie. Truth be told if not for her I never would have bought the product. I asked for the name of the manager so that I could tell them how terrific she was. She told me her immediate bosses name was Ronaldo. He was not in that day, but would be in the next day. I called the store three times! There was no way to speak with him, but with whomever I spoke, they said they would have to send him an email to have him call me and he would call me within a half an hour. Never got a phone call from him. Went to the store to tell him about Jackie. He was not the least bit interested. I was supposed to have my product and the geek squad at my apartment, I was told, between 10 and two today, that never happened! They were to call me a half an hour before they would be here that never happened! Seven phone calls to the only number I have, which never took me to the store got me seven different stories! Each person, supposedly, checked the computer and gave me a different window of time for the technician to come. Never got the same story twice! After telling them that I thought the right thing to do would be not to charge me the $150 just as a matter of a good customer service since I had to sit in the house all day an amazing thing happened ! I received a call from someone who was on his way home, but was told to come and connect my product to the Internet. He did come. He was very nice. He did a very good job. Distress with the phone calls was beyond anything one would consider tolerable. Only one person in the eight calls with whom I spoke was able to speak an understandable English. I would not ever go to the store. I would not ever recommend this store to anyone. IT IS A MIGRAINE, WAITING TO HAPPEN! I feel it only fair to add that after Saturdays nightmare I had to go back to the store, due to incorrect information that I got from a member of the geek squad. Ricky, one of the store, managers, helped me immediately and most successfully. He came as soon as he was paged he presented himself in a most gentlemanly way. He was very knowledgeable, and took care of all the things I needed...
