I am in New York as a tourist, and I visited Patty and Sharon yesterday for my first ever experiment with colored dye. They were recommended to me by a coworker (thanks, Brian!) and the experience was amazing. First, Patty knows her stuff. She looked at my hair, correctly diagnosed the challenges I have with it and the strengths of it (silky fine on top; textured and curly on bottom) and talked about the cut she could give me that would add the upper volume I crave. She also talked about the best approach to give me the color I wanted. And then she and Sharon preceded to make my dreams come true. :) They did this with lively conversation and humor and just the most comfortable and enjoyable salon experience of my life. (Being in my 50s, I've had a few!) I would recommend them to everyone, and if I come back to New York, I am coming to them, although I understand they may then be in a new location a few blocks away.
Be insistent with your tip. It took three hours for them to give me the full treatment, and their prices are so incredibly reasonable that i was determined to pay more. Patty would only accept half of the tip I wanted to give her and I walked away feeling slightly guilty that she did not charge more.
Read moreThis was my first time at the salon and by far my best salon experience ever. I love Patty’s energy. She was welcoming and fun but very professional and had a expert eye.
Price is very reasonable. I called to make an appointment and luckily she was able to fit me in the day of.
I have very long, wavy hair that was up to my butt and I wanted to chop it off to donate. I was worried Patty would not be familiar with the procedure so I called ahead to ask and was assured that she was familiar with the process. I showed her a few inspo pics and left it to her on what length bob would fit best with my face shape. She asked me detailed questions such as whether I would like to be able to tie it up still or not at all and after some discussion we decided on the length which would end up being the shortest I’ve ever gotten. She recommended dry cut. Although I was nervous, she kept reassuring me and checking with in with me during the entire process to make sure I was comfortable with the length, style, etc.
The whole experience felt very personal as if I was hanging out with a friend. She is the best and I highly recommend her. I love my cut and will be coming here...
Read moreI decided I wanted to cut my hair very short but didn't have the budget for a salon near my work in Midtown. After some searching online I found Third Prince Salon and decided to give it a shot. This salon is a bit tricky to find, located in Chinatown. There is a strip that has the same address-just keep walking along until you see it through the window. The actually salon is very tiny, maybe 3 seats plus a washing station near the register.
The prices are incredibly cheap ($25 for my haircut + my husbands!) And the hairdressers were super friendly, careful, and professional. The hairdresser who cut my long hair checked in with me frequently before she cut (I was shedding around 10" so it was a big change). She chatted with me and was generally very pleasant. Getting that much hair cut off can be nerve wracking but her caution and methodical approach kept me at ease.
Loved my haircut so much I went back again over this past summer. Had a different hairdresser who was also great and equally as careful.
If you don't mind a bit of an adventure to get there, this plaace is a great alternative to the more expensive places...
