Absolute gem! One of my favorite places to stop by when in the village but since moving uptown, I now order by phone to get my fix, that is how good their chocolates are.

Multi-generational chocolatiers Varsano’s is a NYC institution and better than many of the local artisanal brands I’ve tried around the States and abroad, and trust me I have done the legwork.

Their chocolate is distinctly local but features everything from nonpareils, chocolate covered caramel pretzels rods (incredible!), almond butter crunch, fruit and nut bars, and many other freshly made traditional chocolate confections. Their dark chocolate will convert those milk chocolate fans, it’s rich with the perfect balance of sweet.

Beyond their incomparable chocolate is Marc, the owner. who still runs the shop is super friendly, as is the rest of his staff, and clearly loves what he does. It comes though in the delicious chocolate itself, his thoughtful curation, his beautifully made and wrapped boxes, and his welcoming personality. All reasons you should drop in and try some yourself if you haven’t already tasted...

Alright, I'll let you all in on my chocolate spot. Yes it's tucked into the random variety of stores that West 4th street offers. But its bright, clean and inviting. Moreover, Marc is awesome and he runs a friendly and consistent business. Lilac just doesn't compare to Varsano's!

It's spotlessly clean and the chocolate is displayed right in the front and Marc is always working on a new creation... The workshop is behind the counter and that's where the magic is taking place!

My favorites are the chocolate sea salt caramels, the chocolate caramel pretzel and the life changer is the chocolate dipped caramel oreo. I know, caramel seems to be a trend in my favorites, but its melt-in-your-mouth caramel that I will skip dinner and drinks for! You should also try the chocolate covered s'mores, and the chocolate covered caramel...

Varsano's chocolate is, by far, the best chocolate that I've had. I have sampled chocolates all over NYC and the world. My favorite is all the hand-dipped chocolate that Marc Varsano does himself in the back. I love the hand-dipped Oreos and what I call "adult" peanut butter cups. Everything from the hand-dipped section is a winner. Additionally, you will not get better service as this store is a true "mom and pop." Marc is there all the time and runs the show with only a handful of helpers. He never turns anyone away, even if he's technically closed. This is an old school experience. The only drawback is that if you didn't bring enough home, the cravings are...

I always walk past this shop but never went in until today I went for some last-minute Valentine's Day shopping for my vegan husband. Cute corner store in West Village, SO many (more than ten) vegan options and sugar-free chocolates too! I got the last few dark chocolate-covered orange peels, ginger, marzipan, and a few more for a box of about $27 which is not bad at all! Husband LOVED everything!!! Definitely will bring husband next time to try more! Wish they had more white chocolates but can't complain. Store was busy but well organized. Love a little cute wrappings too!

Varsano's Chocolate is fantastic!! Seriously... Partner discovered them years ago and I've returned for every chocolate giving holiday since. Style is a bit different but I'd put them up against the Belgians for quality. Their chocolate is very, very good. The truffles are particularly delicious but I've enjoyed most of their offerings. Haven't tried them all, yet. šŸ˜‰ Lastly, the owner and staff have always been friendly and helpful. Check this place out!!
