This bartender refused to give us water. Not only illegal, but incredibly rude and inconsiderate. He said he wouldn't give us water because we hadn't ordered anything yet. We were going to get water and then order a drink, but he just blatantly refused, so we left thirsty. Can you imagine being so mean spirited you deny women water just because you can? Absolutely ridiculous

Good people, prices and drinks. A place where people care, especially if you get to know the regulars and the bartenders. They are always helpful, friendly and cordial. This weekend at the Four Faced liar was great and packed with some great ladies I've met. Always a good and relaxing time at the four faced liar.

Loved this laid back bar. Their prices are great. I liked the look and feel of the place. The service is great. Eric is a very good bartender. I would definitely come back.

As a traveler from out of town, I wasn’t sure what to expect walking into this New York City bar—but I’m so glad I did. Tucked into the city’s lively streets, this place delivered one of the best pints of Guinness I’ve had outside of Ireland.

The pour was textbook, classic, Guinness . It’s clear they take pride in how they serve it—no shortcuts, just tradition and care.

The vibe of the bar was equally impressive—welcoming, with that authentic New York energy, but not overwhelming. As a visitor, it felt like a local favorite that also embraces newcomers. The bartender, Mike, even asked how I liked my pint, which made the experience feel personal. He made outstanding conversation while he ran a tight ship bar. Every patron was glad to be in his presence.

If you’re in NYC and looking for a proper Guinness, this spot should be on your list. It’s proof that even in a city full of options, there are places where quality and hospitality still...

I've been a regular here for over a decade. It's like an extension of my apartment: the living room I never had, but with my friends often in residence. I met my girlfriend of 14 years through (though not at) The Liar. Conversations are usually great, people are welcoming, the service is excellent and the Guinness has been voted Best in the City. A pint and a game of Buck Hunter? Check. Discussions of the finer points of astrophysics or the pros and cons of dam building, or music, food, NYC, or anything else? Check. Halloween close to the parade but not obnoxious? Check. A round of connect 4 or other board games? Check mate. A terrible movie of the same name was filmed here, and thank you for not...

Bartender just plain rude. Not even a busy night, just not welcoming at all. Thought he was in a conversation so was waiting patiently when he was apparently ready to take the order so the first thing said when entering was “First time at a bar?” in a really condescending tone. He was continually like this throughout the night. Open and available bar tables weren’t cleaned off for other folks to talk for an hour+. The kicker for me was when two young women were being intensely harassed by a drunk patron he just served, he was just having a cigarette and did nothing, hailing a ride or anything. Overall, just pretty uncomfortable space with too much country music and service that would make me...
