My friend and I went there and requested 'Spa Pedicures' - of course there are two spa pedicures and of course they did not bother to ask which one we wanted, they just went and gave us the higher priced one. We mentioned to the manager who just said, "sorry." I reluctantly paid but then was furious so I called them and told them they had to refund the difference, at first she resisted but agreed to give me a gift card after I threatened to contact the Department of Consumer Affairs but said she would have to check with the employees who did the pedicure to see if they advised me of the price. She called me back and admitted that they did not advise but said I saw the price list, like I know the difference? I definitely did not say "I'd like to more expensive spa pedicure."
In any event, it's amazing to me that they rather make a quick $30 than keep a customer and it's a shame because we would have totally gone back, so how many thousands are they missing out because of $30?
Plus I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company, filing a formal complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs and the New York State Attorney General's office-hope that $30 helps get their new business started after I...
Read moreI've been going to Cleo since I moved to the neighborhood in 2015. After they closed the Park Ave. location during Covid, I started going to this location and have been having mani-pedi with Carmen since. I love Carmen. Not only she is very meticulous, but also she is very friendly. I like my cuticles to be cut and cleaned well, not everyone does a good job with this but Carmen does and takes the time to do her job well. My mani-pedi with her used to take 90 mins; however, Cleo, with the new manager who started a couple of months ago, instituted a policy for all technicians to finish mani-pedi in 60 mins. Carmen does her best to still do a diligent job but she can't; it is not humanely possible. I really feel for her. I understand the cost pressures for a small business in the city; therefore, I'd recommend that they consider requesting an additional fee from people like me who require more time for cuticle clean up. I wouldn't mind paying an additional, reasonable fee but I can't continue to come back in these conditions...
Read moreCleo Spa is my favorite salon for a manicure and pedicure. I have been going here for over two decades when they had their first location. What I like about this place is the cleanliness, the skill of the ladies who give all these services and the spacious pretty interior. During the pandemic they were strict about the rules and one had to fill out a form with assorted questions. Everyone who worked wore masks as did the customers. Here manicures take time as it’s not a quick job. A special is the moisturizing gloves that previously used to be included in the price of a manicure but now costs money. It’s particularly good for dry cuticles. I always get it. It makes me feel luxurious. Many ladies have worked here and I liked Luisa and Aida. Now I have Mica who is excellent. Mingy is in management at the salon and she is personable. A friend asked for a manipedi salon and now Laura is a monthly happy customer. Highly...
