(CURLY AFROCENTRIC HAIR REVIEW) I took my boyfriend here on a Saturday(May 4th 2024) afternoon like 2pm for his birthday, which was not busy at the time. We drove all the way from New Jersey just for the headspa treatment and they did great!! But i was a bit disappointed that they didn't analyze our scalp to see what was needed for our treatment like other headspas I've been to. Also they didn't use any herbs during the wash on our hair thats supposed to be specialized to improve the condition of our hair. But that's ok.

Our appointment lasted 1 hr and i made sure of it throughout the appt.. I had the pleasure of being serviced by a very professional latina woman (i forgot her name) that was very informative and gentle with me.. With this service, you get a basic facial ( face mask & face wash) while your hair is conditioned and washed many times.. during this time she will steam,massage and scrub your scalp.. she used a few tools on my scalp which was very relaxing. But what was MOST IMPORTANT was that she let me know everything she was doing and using on me before doing that!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Now since im african american with curly hair, my hair will get tangled QUICK but she knew what to do and i came out with minimum tangle. I still had to use the bathroom to brush out my hair and braid it up but my hair was SUPER SOFT afterwards and remained like that days later. I would suggest if you're black to bring a leave in condition for them to put in your hair in the end because they do NOT do that nor blowdry your hair like other places. ( I don't think they even have the room to do that to be honest). But that didn't take away from the fact out of all the places I researched this 1 was the best SO FAR.

My boyfriend loved the experience but he said at one point he felt like he was being massaged too hard by the guy servicing him.. So i suggest that they ask customers "how the pressure is?" when doing so. When we were done, they gave us small glasses of wine!!! Highly impressed by something so small..🥰

They were KIND (not looking like they wanted to rush us) and greeted us which is VERY important to customers. I pre-paid for our Services via venmo because they're site only takes venmo and cash app over the phone(no zelle).. but they probably would take card and cash in person. All in all, I'd go back here. Place was CLEAN, people were professional and they serviced us properly and didn't beg for tips but PLEASE TIP THEM WELL if you like...

From start to finish, this was probably one of the best experiences I've ever had! I have always seen the scalp treatments on TikTok and unfortunately in Orlando, FL we don't have them yet. I was so excited to come to New York since this was a regular thing here.

Back on TikTok, i found VR Studio and they got so many great Reviews. When I went to make an appoint i noticed that it was a "mens Studio" nervous and a little confused i called and they reassured me that women can receive services for facials and the scalp treatment! I was excited because I also saw on their website that they were doing 50% off. I scheduled my appointment for 7:30pm, gave a $20 deposit and I was set.

I was able to get off work early and I sent a text asking if i could arrive earlier, they responded quickly and I was able to get in at the new time. I arrived at the Studio and was happy to see that the studio was clean and I was greeted immediately. They offered my a beverage and I was able to go back to the room right away! David explained the process and i was set.

The weighted blanket was sooooo nice! then the water temperature and the smells of the soaps!!! the music! everything was amazing!!!!!!!!!!! David washed my hair like 4 times!! my hair has never been cleaner! The massage was AMAZING!!! then I received a face sheet mask and more massages for my neck, shoulders and back!!! The smell of the body oil that they used... I'm still thinking about it! I want to buy it!!!

All in all, this was the best experience I've ever had. As a solo Female I felt safe which was my main concern. The facility was clean!!! and everyone was sooo nice!!!!

I think i may have to go back...

TERRIBLE uncomfortable experience and LOW QUALITY with hostile owners

-the man giving service was extremely under qualified and left the room for 15 minutes. when he came back his hands and body smelled like smoke that were then all over my body and face -sprayed water in eyes in aggressive manner and on face multiple times while towel was covering mouth (couldn’t breathe) -was extremely rough and not cautious of any sensitivity in scalp or on face - clearly not experienced -took off my make up and was so rough over my eyes that he knocked out my contact -face mask was irritating -used garnier hair mask + shampoo/conditioner is Nexxus brand - nothing special at point he was massaging my neck and I couldn’t breathe because of the pressure

When telling them about my experience at the end man responded - “you’re not going to tip me?”

Spoke with owners days later to give feedback and they are not doing anything to resolve and raised voice at me and told me I should have stopped the service. How? My head was was drenched in product - how do you stop that mid service?
