Ok, here is my REAL review, this isnāt the review of someoneās friend/ buddy who at first glance you think might be biased, this is for all the newbies moving to the area who TRUST what we read and depend on it to navigate this rapidly changing city; and trust Iām picky and I evaluated and visited all the competition. First of all letās get this out of the way I am no longer in prime athletic shape, so if you think you have to be superwoman to attempt CrossFit youāre playing yourself. Iāve had years of CrossFit experience in various states and countries so after gaining 70 lbs. from knee injuries I was super discouraged, but I KNEW what I was looking for in a box/ conditioning regimen because I had achieved it before. - So i visited just about every competitor in a three mile radius. I wanted knowledgeable coaches, flexible classes that would allow me to train UP to 6 days per week, and also the ability to switch it up. Mornings vs evenings. I observed the coaches like a hawk... all of them, I asked questions about their backgrounds, I paid attention to if the listened to my concerns or did they just want a buck. Joining a box is an investment, but itās an investment in your health and the least expensive way to get daily personal training. Iām going to say this again, you will not find a daily personal trainer in the metro area for a better price. So here is my breakdown review, itās thorough and itās long, and I left no stone unturned. THE BOX- This box easily rivals the boxes of Southern California, Manhattan, Bali, and Thailand right in the heart of downtown newark. Itās brand new and sparkling clean! The equipment, rigs, and setup are free of odor, and they clean it with sanitizer after every class. Iām paranoid about gym cleanliness, so I watched. The bathrooms immaculate, and the entire Arrival community does their part. Itās centrally located on Halsey I usually scoot over to Whole Foods to gran breakfast or a local coffee shop. Itās also SAFE! Electronic security gates and double door entry. The other competition is not as clean, I visited, I watched, and I know without a doubt.
The Staff I found a staff, committed to building a vision. They work HARD, and they keep their gym smelling good and sparking clean. They do REAL CrossFit and they communicate with each other. I refused to pay monthly fees to a box that only taught circuits, I wanted it all, the rig, the sweat, the heavy weights, and after much comparison and contrast I found ALL of it! - Xfit is NOT for a āparticularā type of person itās for every person. They are a team. Justin will likely be the first person you meet at intake, I know for a fact I told him 1000 things on my first visit about what I like and my goals, he remembered it all, and shared it with the other coaches. That was impressive, to this day no one films my rear end jiggle on camera, I told one person and they all knew. Then there are the ātwinsā, Iām not really certain if theyāre twins but I know for certain they are brothers, they are coaches and co owners, and they both answer to the name Jason, pretty sure only one is actually named Jason however, but anywho they coach, theyāre good coaches who donāt overcrowd you and they actually train with us to get the same experience we do. Then thereās Romeo, Romeo is Xfit obsessed, he is your go to if ya wanna work on form, gain bulk, and overall the guy has ALOT of Xfit knowledge, like a Xfit encyclopedia and he will inform you every step of the way what every movement is doing and why. If Xfit ever makes it to the olympics he will surely be a judge Then thereās Vince, all of them are good, but heās my personal favorite because he gets āmy goalsā, heās mainly a morning class teacher, but he listens, heās patient, and if you skip class for too many days please believe a text is coming inquiring about an explanation. At no time do you feel like heās there for any reason other than to see you get stronger week by week. This is fitness for all, and my slacks are already loose after...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur company recently started a corporate wellness initiative - and one of our first programs to implement was an after-work workout at our Bell Works office for our employees. I contacted Arrival CrossFit and together we came up with a program that worked for our employees. Best part of all, they brought all of their equipment and trainers to us! The trainers at Arrival are so knowledgeable, genuine and FUN! They took the time each week to scale the workout to each participants needs. The trainers were excellent with our group which ranged from beginner to advanced. I participated in the program and even though I was part of a group, I really feel as if I received individualized personal attention. They pushed me beyond (what I thought were) my limits. I cannot say enough good things about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCommunity is a consistent theme when you enter most CrossFit gyms, but Arrival leads the pack because of its ability to foster belonging and community. In my 10+ years of CrossFit, I have never come across a box more diverse. Arrivalās coaching staff and member base reflects every dimension of diversity, and thatās what keeps me coming back every day! In addition to world-class coaches who have mastered the art of pushing members physically (within reason). Being in tune to the individual needs of their members is critical and the coaches have mastered this. Overall, 10/10, I...
