I wanted to share my recent experience with Dick’s Sporting Goods in hopes that it leads to better customer service for future shoppers. As a lifelong Division 1 runner, I’ve always invested in quality footwear and never had an issue with any shoe or retailer—until now.
I purchased a $175 pair of running shoes from Dick’s, which unfortunately caused me to develop Pes Anserine Bursitis. When I attempted to return or exchange the shoes, I was told that I could not because they were considered “unsellable,” despite the clear discomfort and injury they caused.
In contrast, brands like HOKA stand by their products and prioritize customer satisfaction—offering returns and exchanges regardless of wear. That level of commitment to their customers makes a difference.

Read moreWaited in the checkout line around 11 this morning to ask a question because I didn’t see anyone on the floor. I wanted to see if an item was instock. Today, there were 3 employees at the register talking among themselves. We put our items on the counter and were ignored for a few minutes til they were done talking. Then one decided to actually do his job. While scanning our items he keep looking around the store/ past me and continued talking with co-workers. He realized after he scanned most of my items that he wasn’t actually ringing anything into the system. Maybe they should pay more attention to doing their job instead of having social hour at work. Looks like Academy Sports will be getting...
