My experience with this store has been overall very good. Right off the bat though, I will say the store can literally look like a dump, and it is hard to walk around the stuff on the floor.
Is the the workers/owners fault though??? ABSOLUTELY NOT, and they certainly don't deserve bad ratings for it. What happens is they offer things like magic cards, pokemon cards, comics, and other rare things of such, and when people come in to look through them, they are ravenous, inconsiderate beasts! I bet half of the people who left negative reviews for unclenliness dropped at least a couple things in the floor or didn't put something back in the organised manner they were supposed to be in. Long story short, don't be a jerk, clean up when you finish looking.
Anyways, I have been in there several times and I can almost always find what I'm looking for. I have gotten a gamecube controller, a game I never expected to find ANYWHERE because it was so unpopular, a couple ds games, countless magic/pokemon cards, and even care items for systems that are considered antiques! Most of the games they have come in the original cases, including Nintendo 64 games, gamecube games, and even ds games, which I find impressive as most people don't keep the cases.
The staff can usually find what you are looking for fairly quickly, but to be on the safe side, go there with at least an hour to spare because of the mess everyone else leaves. I have gone in and found what I need in less than a minute, but on the other side, I have dug around for hours. It all depends on what you need.
The prices generally fluctuate, depending on how much of what they have in stock and the actual price (ex: If they have one copy of super smash bros melee, it costs about $60, but if they have 10 it could drop to about $20.) Don't expect them to have a whole lot in stock though, unless the game is essentially unheard of. I have found games as low as $2.
As for people saying "unfriendly staff" I can only say that everyone has bad days, however I have never had anyone snap at me.
The only thing I think they could improve is their card section. That is the main problem they face when people dig through them. There needs to be a box for the cards to go into. However, the card section is at the very back of the store, and you don't have to be there if you aren't...
Read moreFun unlimited is always been a bit of a hit and miss when it comes to the stuff they sell. Over the last few years things have only gone down hill. At the current location the store is frankly disgusting. Every surface in the store is covered in a layer of grime. The floor is nasty and needs to be vacuumed more than once every few years. In the past I have found books with mold growing out of the pages. They do not have a real return policy. If you buy something you can return the item but you're never getting your money back, you just get the money back in store credit. When it comes to their video games( my primary reason for visiting) it doesn't get much better. Every game that I looked at was overpriced by sometimes twice what you can find online. If a game is not overpriced then by the time you get to the counter they have at times changed the price to something higher. I've also had the issue of not getting functioning items. I bought a PSP here years ago that would not run games. It would start up and then crash after a couple of minutes ( I only ended up getting the money back in store credit). I've also received games that were so badly scratched that they were non-functioning. Along with that they sometimes switch out the games in the boxes that you buy to something completely different. This was the case when I bought a copy of Doom and ended up getting a later game in the series. I do not recommend the store. This is the very worst it gets when it comes to used games stores. If you like getting scammed by shady car salesman , like answering every call about your car's extended warranty and Don't feel like your day is complete without random charges on your credit card from a city you have never visited then this store is for you. But if you actually care about your money I would...
Read moreHuge location with an amazing selection of obscure and rare games. Definitely will get lost in searching for something that you’ve been wanting for a while. Here’s the downside from a customer standpoint. The pricing that you see on the items on the shelves aren’t the actual price. Once you get to the register and you try to check out everything is re-priced before you can leave. From what I can totally use price charts Amazon and eBay for pricing. The caveat to this is if the price on the game is lower than what they feel the value is they upped the price but if the price on the game is higher than what the value of the game is they leave it alone. Unfair shady business practices coming from a location that could be amazing. The other side of this is the facility is huge but it’s dirty and unorganized. The way things are stacked next to bookshelves and thrown around is a huge safety concern for any kids they go into this place. Honestly they might as well just slap a sign up that says this is a museum and change admission for somebody to go in and look at some decent items. In my professional opinion this is not the way you should run a business nor should you treat your customers that are spending time out of their day to shop your facility. If this was a a major city like Salt Lake or LA they would not stay in business. Lucky for them there’s a lot of individuals that don’t know what they’re paying for or how to research at themselves and they’ll just pay the price they’re asking. I’m assuming that’s how they stayed in...
