We took our two year old Golden Retriever for an interview day and will not be taking him back. The dog to handler ratio is 25 to 1. We felt very uncomfortable with so many dogs to so few workers. The play rooms are also way too small and full of way too many dogs. You can see in the screenshot of one of the playroom cameras that there is no room for the dogs to run around, and there is only a single set of plastic stairs for them to play on. All the playrooms looked like this, including the outdoor ones. The workers also did not play with the dogs. We watched the cameras for most of the three hours our dog was there (the camera feed is very slow and grainy), and the workers just stood in the corner and did not interact with the dogs. We saw one of the workers drag our dog by his collar when trying to move him to a different room. We expected more given the great reviews but wish we had done more research beforehand. I see now that Camp Bow Wow does not require any prior experience working with animals to work for them. I also wish I had known about the high dog to handler ratio. The videos of the facility online are very misleading, as the angles make the play spaces look bigger than they actually are, and there are not nearly as many dogs in the play rooms as we saw on the cameras. While the workers we interacted with were kind, we got pictures of our dog during "enrichment time" (finding treats in a snuffle mat), there was remote access to cameras of all the play rooms, and the interview day was free, we strongly feel the other issues mentioned prevent this from being a place we would ever feel comfortable sending our dog in the future.
Also, looking through most of the reviews, I am realizing now that a lot of them and the responses from the owner read like they're AI...
Read moreLove bringing my husky here and its great for boarding when we go out of town. Friendly staff and decent price with slight discounts when you buy packages. And our puppy perks up soon as you say the words day care to him.
Only reason for the four star is they started getting super busy recently and now have a waiting list. Used to be able to call up pretty much any day and they'd have space available, now they have wait lists all week. It only means I'll have to plan ahead on the days I want him to go but before it was more convenient if I had a busy work day and wasn't gonna be able to take him for as long of walks or go to the park cause something came up I could just call up and drop him off, now I gotta plan a week ahead what day I want to drop him off which kinda defeats the utility of the place as it was a great option for being able to drop in when things came up and to ensure our pup still got his exercise no matter what. Now he'll still get day care days but if I run late at work or kids have an event come up and a park day isn't possible don't have the option to let him go run at day care last minute instead. I know business picks up, popularity increases, and I still think the place is a wonderful spot, but it lacks the convenience and utility it had for over a year that we've...
