Stop looking for other vintage jewelry shops. The Gold Hatpin is the best place to find what you are looking for! Let me touch on a few reasons why I love this place.

Price: My girlfriend (now fiancé) and I visited just about every vintage jewelry shop in the Chicago area and The Gold Hatpin is hands down the best value for the best quality. Exactly one other place was a hair more affordable but the quality of the diamonds/rings, sadly, reflected that. All the others were overpriced, to say the least. We are still blown away at how amazing our ring is for a fair and reasonable price. This also goes for the many other items you might be interested in like necklaces, earrings, and bracelets.

Selection: Admittedly we thought since the shop was smaller in size we wouldn't find a variety of what we were looking for. Let me tell you we were so very wrong. Initially, we were interested in art deco rings (which they have plenty of) but ended up falling in love with something mid-century circa the 1950s. We are so thankful for the wide variety of vintage rings without which we would not have my fiancé’s ring of her dreams. It's worth noting that we were also impressed with the many other amazing things they have here that are so unique and interesting like broaches, pendants, and trinkets.

Quality: As I mentioned there were tons of other shops we searched to find the perfect ring and it was so off-putting to see such a difference in quality to price ratio. The Gold Hatpin was the first place we visited on our journey and I am so glad we did because we kept comparing them to what we were seeing in other stores. For example, there was a ring from another vintage jewelry store that had similar specs to the one we found at TGH and the price difference was a whopping $5K. In my opinion, Gold Hatpin had the best quality of vintage rings without a shocking sticker price.

Service: This is going to be somewhat of a love letter to Diane so just bear with me here. Diane, you were the most warm, helpful, patient, and knowledgeable person we came in contact with by far. You were so sweet and kind when we took much of your time that day. A simple thank you feels like it's not enough so please know that Amanda and I are so grateful to you for your willingness to help us find something special and memorable. When I picked the ring up, it was so brilliantly clean and Amanda said she fell in love with it all over again. All that being said, I don't believe I need to elaborate more about the top-notch customer service. TGH is one of those places you WANT to buy from because it feels good. Trust me, they will take good care of you!

Such an AMAZING shop if you are interested in vintage jewelry at very fair prices. Lynn made my engagement ring a dream come true. I bought a simple gold filigree ring from the gold hatpin and she completely transformed it by placing my family diamond in the center. I was worried because I wanted to retain the integrity of the original vintage ring (not look like some modern setting placed on a vintage ring) and wanted to make sure the diamond looked like it was meant to be there. Lynn listened to all my concerns and delivered a result better than I could have imagined (she has quite the eye for vintage jewelry and how to tastefully modify it)!!! This is such a unique store! I found my wedding band here, and the selection was incredible (be sure to tell them what you're looking for, as they have a lot more trays in the back that aren't on display). I couldn't find any similar place in all of Chicago-land. They were very patient with me as it took me a bit of time to make up my mind, and I thought the pricing was very fair.
