This past sunday i had guests for a football game, i ordered for the very first time from this place, i ordered the papa q platter, i actually thought it would be the platter they show on website, its not. The platter they sent out was a to go platter wich had a very small portion of their meats. I had 5 people plus myself for the football game, the sides literally feed a toddler. I cant believe i payed $65.00 for this. They gave me a small bag of cold fries, cold platter. I reached out to the place an employee took my number down and said the shift leader would call me the following day wich was yesterday monday 11/11/24. Didnt receive a call. Im very dissapointed because i was embarrassed at my own gathering with my guests. I ended up ordering a pizza and spending and extra $50.00 by the way the 3 little cups of sauce wasnt enough either i cant believe how can someone charge so much and sell these small portions of food. The first impression is what counts. Very very dissapointed. For the record telling a person you would call back the following day shows alot about how this place handles their business....... 11/19/24 10:45am And no you did not reach back my phone is always with me no email no call you thought i couldnt reply back at your response, i can always edit my review, now i know that your a shady person and run your business the same way the nerve to lie and response that you reached out to me tells alot about your person. Smh i i included the date and time i edited my review just so you know that i have my phone on with me at...
Read moreThere is a Q in LaGrange as well. The one we visited was in Oak Park, right on the mall. I will say right off that the ribs were dry, with a the end ribs actually hard to chew. Use plenty of sauce if you order these. However, the rest of the meats are great! Well seasoned, juicy and tender.the brisket is juicy and succulent...seasoned just right. It made me a brisket fan after years of indifference to this type of grilled meat. Best buys were the meat platters, which can be ordered with 1, 2 or3 meat choices. The sausage is well seasoned and not overly greasy. The pulled meats, chicken, beef or pork make great sandwiches. The turkey is very well done. The sides are the best: tomato and cucumber salad was great, as were the baked beans, mashed potatoes and slaw. The hush puppies are 2 bites with corn kernels mixed in. We didn't try the specialty sides, although they looked good. There is a kids' menu as well as Q tacos made with the various meats. The Papa Q platter is the best deal for 2-3 people: ALL the meats plus shareable sizes of 2 sides and hush puppies. The decor is Industrial casual. You order at the counter and your food is brought to you. You gather your own drinks and eating utensils. Also, grab a couple of cups of house made pickles...they are fantastic with the meat and are crunchy. There is no desert selection....if you can waddle over to Coldstone, you didn't eat enough Q! Go, enjoy Q then walk it off by window shopping on the mall....
Read moreOk. So i just spent $100 here and got a piece of pretty much everything and a full rack of ribs. I'm going to break it down real simple.
The Good: Ribs were awesome. Sauce was great, big fan of the Texas Spicy, the family was a big fan of the Memphis Sweat. Beans were good but could have been cooked a little longer so the beans weren't so "crunchy". Burnt Ends were really good. Pulled pork was left plain for you to sauce yourself, it was also pretty good. Very well priced. Kids liked the cookies :). Service was really good and nice as well.
Could use some improvements: The slice Brisket was REALLY dry. But im assuming it either has been sitting out or just left to dry out somewhere... saucing it up didn't really help the dryness. Lets just say you wouldn't be able to tell the different between the slice Brisket and the Burnt Ends, blindfolded. The corn was okay at best for me. The Mac-Q-Cheese was really dry as well. The corn bread crumbled before you even pick it up. I like it a little more "sticky" but I have been at other places that makes crumbly cornbread. I was not a fan of the vinegar sauce, but this is more of a personal taste.
Conclusion: I will be coming back. Maybe I'll leave the slice brisket out next time. Give it go, Chicago doesn't have too many good BBQ joints. This place is one of the better...
