I have gone to Platoās closet over the years and I like the selections that they have. I like the sales that they have when you can discount everything you fit into the bag. I donāt like however all of the issues being presented by the customers who patronize this facility and if you look the owner is only responding to the positive criticism. Rather than responding to the positive criticism, you would think that he or she would address the negative criticism with solutions; or better yet actually speak to the staff seeing as how the complaints are the same things over and over again. I do not like businesses that do not prioritize their customers so that becomes a problem. Hopefully they learn to do better for the people who keep them in business and stop ignoring the complaints.
Edit: I literally forgot that I have written the above review and went back to Platoās yesterday after probably a year and a half of not going there. The way that this store has completely fallen off is so extremely sad. Itās not even a thrift store anymore, they are trying to make themselves a store store. Most things there are $15 and up and for that you could go to an actual store. They no longer offer their sales or deep discounts.Things that should be sold as sets are being sold separately and the overall offering is not not much. I found maybe five OK things out of the whole store. It seems they are more focused on buying Than actually selling as a thrift store. I decided that this past weekend would be my last time going to Platoās as I do not see it as a good store anymore. They might as well just shut down shop at this point because itās truly awful.
But what was most highly concerning? Is that when I was in the dressing room trying things on, you can clearly see security cameras that are in view from the dressing rooms. I feel like they could see directly into the dressing room, and when I asked the associate about it she told me that the cameras were facing the back. I donāt know how much I believe this and if I come to find out that I was being recorded while undressing, there will be huge repercussions. Why on earth would there be cameras so close to the dressing room? This absolutely needs to be addressed before...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally dissatisfied with my experience here. Nothing will probably be done about this but Iām leaving it here and hoping a manager takes action because this Platoās closet needs it. Iāve always had problems in the store and kept giving it another try but this was it!
Iāve worked in customer service for many years and I try to be respectful every place I go because I know how it is. They had 2 ladies working the register, one was with a girl with at least 50 items. There was another girl in front of me with also 50 items at least. I had 2 items. Any other place wouldāve taken me quickly before her to get me out the door. I rarely am ever this type of customer but the staff was moving so slow, I politely asked if someone could check me out before beginning on the 2nd girl with 50 items because I only had two. The employee sighed heavily and motioned me to come but didnāt say anything. She was visibly annoyed. Her silence also said more than words. She made me feel like Iād done something wrong and when I confronted her she argued with me that there wasnāt a problem and got incredibly defensive. āI didnāt say anything. Iām still taking you arenāt I?ā She made me feel terrible for asking! It's clear that when people are defensive, they know they are in the wrong. I was polite and didnāt ask the impossible.
On top of all that... the store is extremely small and ALWAYS disorganized. They arenāt really following CDC distancing guidelines. Aisles barely fit 1 person and cannot fit 2 people so it's really hard look for stuff comfortably. There is also no room for a line at check out. They offer dirt money for your quality clothes but stuff is priced pretty high. Danbury store is a little better but company as a whole is pretty bad. There are much better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just want to say first that Iāve been going here for years. I went to college at UNH so I always went there (this was 13 years ago). I went periodically after I graduated from time to time. Iāve never had an issue, but this time was REALLY different and unpleasant. I saw the recent reviews and was shocked that they were so negative. But I can see why! FIRST: I went in with 4 bags (the reusable ones from TJ Maxx). She told me they only have a 2 bag (bin) policy. She also said they only accept bins and not the bags. I asked her where on the website does it say that? And since when? She had nothing to say because IT DOES NOT SAY IT ON THE WEBSITE. She claimed they started this policy recently. If thatās the case, advertise it on your website! Ridiculous. I explained to her I drove up from New York to come here. She said fine and took the bags. However, it was like a challenge. SECOND: Not to mention HOW RUDE she was and EVERYONE else there. Like literally not one single person was nice. I was getting nasty looks and attitude. Itās as if I was inconveniencing them for doing THEIR job. THIRD: When I went back to pick up the clothes they only accepted a small amount. I could tell immediately they didnāt go through 2 of the bags. Oh and guess what? MORE ATTITUDE from other employees!! I canāt believe this place. Soooo unprofessional and unwelcoming. I felt so uncomfortable just being in that store. I will NEVER go back there again. I really recommend not shopping here or selling your clothes. I still canāt get over rude they were. Donāt shop there!!!! The manager needs to do a better job with hiring his/her employees! They completely lost my...
