Read moreFinally! After years of working out here it got the renovation it deserves! The place is beautiful and smells so much better. I have zero complaints regarding this location. You can read my previous grievances below if you wish, however they have all been corrected since the renovation.
"Let me start by saying this, there are few things I expect from a mainstream gym of this caliber.
I know it's one of the busiest gyms in the area; however, it has no excuse for the absolute filth and odor that is pungent and rancid which I can only associate with the smell of fecal matter. At 5 am in the morning I expect a clean gym. That means a clean weightroom without trash and leftover water bottles spread across the floor.
The level of toolbaggery exceeds normal gym levels to the point of catastrophic destruction to your gains. Curling in the squat rack is evidently encouraged somewhere because everyone does it (oh and deadlifting in the rack as well). This normally wouldn't bother me, except there are only two racks and it's every time I'm there that some gymbro is killing my gains with his 65 lbs curls for sets of infinity.
As for quality of the machines / weights there is normal wear and tear, a few machines are missing adjustment knobs (no big deal). I'll give you an extra star for this. But please just remove the busted water fountain if you're not going to fix it.
About the staff, mild mean mugging when your using a piece of equipment that they want to use for their clients. Just give the stink eye right back and you should be good. I wouldn't approach them for anything other than to scan your way in, unless you're ready to listen to a sales pitch on personal training.
Hands down the only reason I continue to go to this decrepit microbial harvesting butt fest is because it's the closest gym to me and I got in super cheap when I lived else where.
My advise, just don't unless you want to feel dirtier than the morning after...
Read moreSome of the staff is very nice and friendly but some are pretty rude and try to sneak you into doing things that only benefit them. I'll give an example, when I first went to this location it was just for the basketball court and my University gave me a 1 week free trial. When I arrived, they sat me down at one of their office desks and took my drivers license and told me to come see them once I was done working out. When I was ready to leave they tried to get me to get a membership, which I expected but the 1st option they gave me was something along the lines of a $500 upfront fee, then $60 per month. Quickly declined that, then they offered a $250 upfront fee and $50 per month, declined that too. Then they finally offered me no upfront fee and $40 per month. How scummy is that? Offering the same services for like $600 less. So I took that, months later when I wanted to cancel they would not allow me to cancel over the phone, and told me I had to come in person. As my vehicle was in the shop, I was unable to do this. They didn't really care about my situation or even seem to comprehend what I was saying. Then they told me I had to mail in a written request to cancel, is this not almost 2016? Do people still actually mail things to businesses or am I wrong in thinking that 99% of all business is done over the computer/email/phone? If I don't have the funds to pay for the membership and I call to cancel said membership, and I have to mail in a cancellation request for something as insignificant as a gym membership (which they probably will not receive/process until 30 days from then) and then they charge my debit card putting me in the negative balance, and then I have to pay overdraft fees, it's literally a load of horse crap. Terrible customer support. 1 star, would give less...
