The boy who loves freedomThe boy who loves freedom
LA Fitness on East Colonial Drive in Orlando, FL, is truly a gem in the fitness world. The facility boasts a fresh, modern look and is well maintained, making each visit a pleasant experience. What sets this location apart is its everyday accessibility – they're open daily, accommodating various schedules. The staff at LA Fitness are not just friendly; they go above and beyond to ensure a positive atmosphere. I must highlight Franko, who stands out as one of the best. His friendliness, professionalism, and willingness to assist make him a valuable asset to the facility. The locker rooms have been renovated, providing a clean and comfortable space. The amenities include a standard-sized pool and jacuzzi for relaxation, along with indoor racketball and basketball courts for those who prefer more dynamic workouts. Additionally, there's a small but convenient smoothie shop and vending area. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the diverse range of weight equipment available, catering to various workout preferences. The inclusion of classes like Zumba adds an extra layer of variety to the fitness offerings. While the facility provides plenty of free parking, it's worth noting that it can get crowded during peak hours. However, this minor inconvenience is a testament to the popularity of the gym. In terms of pricing, LA Fitness on East Colonial Drive falls within the mid-range bracket compared to other options in the area. This makes it a reasonable choice for individuals seeking quality facilities without breaking the bank. Overall, this facility is a well-rounded fitness haven with excellent staff, varied amenities, and reasonable pricing, making it a standout choice for health-conscious individuals in Orlando.

A very disappointing member experience. No one ever re-racks their weights and management does not enforce any of the rules. Evidently they are more interested in building locations than keeping this one up to par and providing a good member experience. It is just a monetary transaction for this LA Fitness and they do not care about the facility or member beyond the monthly ACH debit from your bank account. The area VP or Director should be ashamed of the men's locker room; it's not sanitary or well ventilated. Lastly, if you were going to join for the basketball court, think again. The floor has been torn up since at least June 2024 and they'll tell you the parts are ordered, corporate is deciding what to do, etc. In other words, a rotating list of excuses that is carefully crafted to mask the truth - it's never going to get fixed. Take note executive leadership team as you are failing your members in an effort to appease your investor's demands. Update - same s*** different day with no enforcement of gym rules and etiquette. Some meathead consistently leaves weights on the machine and does not re-rack. Today he was kind enough to leave 230 pounds on the seated dip for someone else to remove. I have spoken to the front desk nearly a dozen times since last year and nothing has changed. Draw your own conclusions as to whether or not they care about you as a member. 02/08/2025 - Once again some inconsiderate person left 6 plates on a workout station so I walked to the front desk to let them know, and that I would not re-rack them this time. No staff member ever came over in the next hour to even attempt to resolve. Draw your own conclusions as to how much the LA Fitness team cares about their members.

As a previous member of the 24 Hour Fitness that used to be in this location, the upgrades, new renovations and equipment are 100% better. Not to mention, I like the LA Fitness brand much better. The staff is friendly and helpful and I love all the fitness classes they offer - especially the indoor cycle class on Tuesday nights! I love the vibe of this gym and the vast number of machines they have, too.

Finally! After years of working out here it got the renovation it deserves! The place is beautiful and smells so much better. I have zero complaints regarding this location. You can read my previous grievances below if you wish, however they have all been corrected since the renovation.

"Let me start by saying this, there are few things I expect from a mainstream gym of this caliber.

I know it's one of the busiest gyms in the area; however, it has no excuse for the absolute filth and odor that is pungent and rancid which I can only associate with the smell of fecal matter. At 5 am in the morning I expect a clean gym. That means a clean weightroom without trash and leftover water bottles spread across the floor.

The level of toolbaggery exceeds normal gym levels to the point of catastrophic destruction to your gains. Curling in the squat rack is evidently encouraged somewhere because everyone does it (oh and deadlifting in the rack as well). This normally wouldn't bother me, except there are only two racks and it's every time I'm there that some gymbro is killing my gains with his 65 lbs curls for sets of infinity.

As for quality of the machines / weights there is normal wear and tear, a few machines are missing adjustment knobs (no big deal). I'll give you an extra star for this. But please just remove the busted water fountain if you're not going to fix it.

About the staff, mild mean mugging when your using a piece of equipment that they want to use for their clients. Just give the stink eye right back and you should be good. I wouldn't approach them for anything other than to scan your way in, unless you're ready to listen to a sales pitch on personal training.

Hands down the only reason I continue to go to this decrepit microbial harvesting butt fest is because it's the closest gym to me and I got in super cheap when I lived else where.

My advise, just don't unless you want to feel dirtier than the morning after...

Some of the staff is very nice and friendly but some are pretty rude and try to sneak you into doing things that only benefit them. I'll give an example, when I first went to this location it was just for the basketball court and my University gave me a 1 week free trial. When I arrived, they sat me down at one of their office desks and took my drivers license and told me to come see them once I was done working out. When I was ready to leave they tried to get me to get a membership, which I expected but the 1st option they gave me was something along the lines of a $500 upfront fee, then $60 per month. Quickly declined that, then they offered a $250 upfront fee and $50 per month, declined that too. Then they finally offered me no upfront fee and $40 per month. How scummy is that? Offering the same services for like $600 less. So I took that, months later when I wanted to cancel they would not allow me to cancel over the phone, and told me I had to come in person. As my vehicle was in the shop, I was unable to do this. They didn't really care about my situation or even seem to comprehend what I was saying. Then they told me I had to mail in a written request to cancel, is this not almost 2016? Do people still actually mail things to businesses or am I wrong in thinking that 99% of all business is done over the computer/email/phone? If I don't have the funds to pay for the membership and I call to cancel said membership, and I have to mail in a cancellation request for something as insignificant as a gym membership (which they probably will not receive/process until 30 days from then) and then they charge my debit card putting me in the negative balance, and then I have to pay overdraft fees, it's literally a load of horse crap. Terrible customer support. 1 star, would give less...
