So I saw their ad on Craigslist for kitchen cabinet set that was described as in "like new condition" and had "solid wood fronts, doors, and face frames." In the pictures they appeared to be as described but there were only two pictures. I called the store several times with no answer and I left a voice mail and received no return call. I finally reached out through Facebook and was finally able to get a hold of "Liz" (who proclaimed herself to be a manager) I told her I lived four hours away and that there was no way I could make their "two hour hold time policy" to come look at them. I asked if would be okay to put a deposit down to hold them. She informed me that the only way she could hold them is of I "paid for them in full and now". I told her I would have to think about it as $1500 is a lot of money to me. I gave her a call back and asked not once but TWICE if there was ANY damage to them and if all the drawers worked properly. She stated not once but TWICE that there were in "like new condition" and had "no damage". I took her word for it... that was my first mistake... I drove four hours and rented a trailer... to find out not only were the cabinets damaged but they were in TERRIBLE condition. Parts were hanging off, chunks of wood were missing, the doors were misaligned, and three of the cabinets had HUGE CHUNKS cut out! I almost broke down in tears. I just made a $1500 dollar mistake. Before I could even get a sentence out the cashier stated "were not giving you your money back". I asked if the money could be applied to another cabinet set (they were in better condition but not what I wanted). She said she would have to "ask the manager" so she came back and stated "she's in a meeting right now, you can browse the store while you wait". A while later the cashier stated "we can do that". So I payed the additional $370 I didn't have and started to load them up. About half way through I realized we didn't have room for the countertop (the original set of cabinets didn't include them so I didn't have a big enough trailer to fit them.) so I informed the cashier that I didn't have room for them she replied "that's okay, we can hold them here for 48hrs". So I finished loading and sent my brother in to return their dolly. He came out about 10 minutes later and told me that the cashier stated I had to "come back into the store and dismantle the countertop and take it with me" or "sign a paper stating I would come back for them". I could not believe what I was hearing! Needless to say I drove away. I am a registered nurse and work 12 hours shifts... I work hard for my money! As if I needed anymore stress to my life after this year. Not only was I lied to I also ended up spending $370 more dollars I didn't have. Hopefully in the future they are more honest with their customers and are willing to admit a wrong and work on a solution together....
Read moreI would give zero stars to Restore if I could. On July 2nd, I called Restore Oshkosh to ask if they accept toilet donations. The man who answered was rude and stated, "As long as it's 1.6 gallons and white." The toilet we wanted to donate is exactly that.
So, on July 3rd, during donation hours, my husband and my 75-year-old father drove from Ripon to Oshkosh to donate a toilet in excellent condition. My parents wanted to replace it with a high-rise model.
When they arrived, two overweight men, who seemed less than enthusiastic, came out and told them they wouldn't accept the toilet because it had a "small hard water stain." Excuse me? Since when has Habitat for Humanity become picky about a minor hard water stain? Is Restore now only cherry-picking donations?
We have been denied our donations multiple times when we have come here. I suspect this is because those two unenthusiastic men don't want to do any work. Don't waste your time trying to donate to this place.
Additionally, a few years ago, someone donated a medical-grade transport cart for disabled individuals. My daughter, who is physically disabled, could really use that cart, but they refused to sell it to us because they use it to stock shelves.
This place is a scam; don't waste your time. Donate to a place that actually appreciates your donation of nice items.
**"Hard water stains" are not listed on the unaccepted list of donations. Nice try though. Hard water stain or well water stain in the bowl happens. The man I spoke to on the phone also never mentioned hard water stain. So again, do not waste your time going there to be turned away. This isn't your first customer review that has complained about the...
Read moreI just wanted to start this review off with a thank you! Thank you for still being a "restore." I started my journey today at the Appleton ReStore which has a majority of new items that I was not looking for. We ended up driving all the way to Oshkosh and this store is what habitat for humanity should be. I should be able to walk in to Habitat and buy the tiles I need to buy in the amount I need to buy them, this store sells used home repair goods so the land fills don't fill up with usable affordable products. Please don't convert to way the other store did because you are...
