I went to the Oshkosh IHOP today and... It was definitely something. There was one waitress who had only been there for a week and one cook who apparently doesn't speak a lick of English.
We (2 adults + 1 child) got there about 8, there was another group (4 adults) when we got there. Shortly after we were seated, someone who was in the parking lot when we parked came in for a take out order.
It took awhile for our orders to be taken because our waitress was having to assist the group of 4 due to some of their food coming out cold. The waitress took back the food and asked repeatedly for the cook to remake it. Which took way longer than it should have for some fries and onion rings to be remade.
Eventually our waitress was able to take our order and it was obvious that she was still learning how to enter everything into the tablet for ordering.
After we ordered I went to the bathroom and noticed there were two stalls, one of which (the handicap stall) didn't have any sort of lock on it. Which makes it pretty unusable.
When I came out of the bathroom we still didn't have our drinks. Our food actually came out before our drinks did. We reminded our waitress about the drinks and she apologized and said she would get them. The food was fine. Nothing was very warm but it was fine.
Around then was the same time that the group of 4 got up to pay and demanded the phone number of the manager. Some more was said that we didn't quite hear, but I believe they then asked her to call the manger. The waitress called the manager, who turned out to be her mom, so they could speak with her. They explained their issue and were clearly upset about the fact that the cook wasn't doing their job well. They eventually left. I would say they were up at the check out counter for at least 10-15 minutes.
Obviously our waitress was busy so we still didn't have our drinks. After the group of 4 left, we started hearing the woman who had the online order who had been waiting the entire time we were there. She was waiting on an omelette. She was there probably 30-45 minutes at this point. She also demanded to speak to the manager and get her back on the phone.
Our waitress unfortunately decided to tell the woman that she had customers she needed to help, which rightfully upset the woman who had already paid for her food and was waiting for about 45 minutes at that point. Eventually the waitress called her mom again (the manager) and gave her phone to the woman waiting. She was very upset at this point and explained that her omelette had been made incorrectly and that the 3 orders of fish and fries were also shorted.
We were able to speak with our waitress while the manager was on the phone with the manager. She explained that she had only been there a week and the other person who was supposed to be there called out. So it was just her and the cook who didn't speak English. She was having to use her phone to translate what she was saying for the cook. We were able to pay for our food and got our drinks to go. The woman was still there when we left which was about an hour after we arrived at the restaurant.
Here's my main concern: if you are the manager, and your daughter is the only person working there and it's her first week AND the cook doesn't do their job well or speak the same language as your daughter, why are you not there also? I truly do not think most of the issues we dealt with were our waitress's fault. She was new and stressed and everyone was yelling at her for things that were beyond her control. The main issues here are the cook and the management.
Also the bathroom stall needs to be addressed because that's not really accessible or acceptable.
We will not be coming back any time soon. The Appleton IHOP is...
Read moreI ordered food online and my food was supposed to be ready around 11:48. I did not receive my food until about 15 minutes later. When I did receive my food it was cold. Not only that I had a very small portion of fries. The portion of fries looked like it was the leftovers from the bottom of the bag. The little tidbits and crumbs. I went back inside and explained to them that my burger was cold and that my fries looked relatively small. The manager told me that my fries looked about the correct size except for maybe 1 oz less because the fries are typically 6 oz. I've worked in fast food for many years and that was not 6 oz of fries and you don't give anyone that type of side of fries. Anyhow, they offered to remake the food so I took them up on that offer.
As I said I waited and waited and 15 minutes passed. At this point, one of the servers came around and asked if I had been served or what was going on because they had already seen me there earlier. I explained to them I was just waiting for my burger and fries to be remade no one had said anything and at this point, it was ridiculous that I was still waiting there for a burger and fries when the restaurant was not busy. I said at this point I just want my money back. The server asked if she could just go and see what was going on with my food and I said yes. Or when she came back apparently my food had already been made but had been sitting in the window. This means it's the same result as the last time, I'm not getting hot food.
Again the restaurant was not busy it was no reason for that to happen. When I got my food it was lukewarm and at that point, I just chose to keep it and keep going because I didn't feel like dealing with the manager and the whole process of everything. I just know that for sure I would not be back. There was no reason for me to wait almost an hour for me to get my food because I did not leave there until about 12:40! So it takes almost an hour to make a burger and fries when the restaurant is not busy. And they can pull the reports to find out how much money was made during that hour that I was there to sell that it was not that busy in that restaurant. It was really sad and very disappointing and I'm highly upset and I will never be back...
Read moreI'm going to echo some of the previous recent reviews and write that my friends and I had a terrible experience yesterday morning! When we got there, it took awhile for anyone to notice we were even there. Finally, a waiter in training saw that no one had helped us so he came and greeted us. He told us he just needed someone to check the seating chart before we were seated. Then, his trainer, came over and was frustrated instantly, telling him that he didn't need to wait for a seating chart and that he should just seat us. Once seated, my friend asked for water. When she received it, it was tinted pink! It was really unappetizing to look at and she didn't touch it. Our training water was very kind, polite, and attentive, but he was very awkward because he was new and that made us a little uncomfortable. My other friend then ordered cheesecake pancakes and was served regular. The woman who was mad about the seating chart, was then annoyed that the order was wrong and came out to bring her new ones and apologized. During us eating, the staff were arguing behind the cooking partition. At one point the grumpy lady walked out of the partition stating that "This is Bulls*" This is TOTALLY unacceptable to say in front of customers. There were kids dining there this morning!! At the end, we asked for our check to be split three ways. WELL that seemed to also annoy grumpy waitress lady, as if the trainer guy could do NOTHING right. She told us she would take care of it and we never saw her again. We flagged down training guy who ended up taking care of it himself. If I'm coming to breakfast and dropping $17, you better make it worth my while and a pleasant experience. If it weren't for the politeness of our training waiter I would have tipped $0 this morning and dropped my review to a 1 star rating. Get your act...
