2022-03 UPDATE
CLOSES EARLY, CLOSES BEFORE POSTED HOURS (7 a.m. - 10 p.m.)
If you call and ask for their hours or what time they close (I've done both), they'll say they close at 10 p.m.
The following is an absolute disgusting account of a very recent encounter. Customer service is dead.
The right answer would have been: -I'm sorry you weren't aware of our policy of not showing anyone in after 9:55 p.m. -Please do come on in, -and just know in the future we close at 9:55. -Have a nice evening.
Unfortunately, reality was completely different.
At 9:55 p.m., I tried to enter to get a bag of salad to have for dinner.
The doors were locked AND I was refused entry by someone who was in the entry to unlock the doors as necessary to allow people to leave.
I called while outside the store and was very rudely told (among other things) that: •I needed to plan better and •I have to realize that the people who work there have lives, too.
I wasn't able to eat that night.
That's so far removed from anything I'd ever do, and I've worked in service, including being a grocery store service area manager.
That's no way to do business. I'm disgusted with Harding's (the one on West Main in Kalamazoo).
Previously... Still 20 years later and one of my only shopping places and they don't seem to recognize me as a "regular"--at least not enough for those white are always there to say "hi". Even thought I find that kind of odd, I still like going there. It's not too big, has everything you need in a grocery, and it's quick in and out. No behemoth to wander through to get what you need. Good for anyone disabled or in pain because you can be...

First off, let me warn you - that fried chicken at the hot food counter is the best in town! And trust me I've looked around! The rotisserie is full over flavor and the pot pies are delicious as well as filling.
I tend to always get my chicken here because they have the Amish brand for very reasonable prices. In fact, I can say all the meats I've gotten from here have been great quality, as well as the fresh salmon.
It's always clean and tidy and it's rare to see any kind of mess.
The Harding's brand of jarred foods are always awesome, much to my surprise. I highly recommend the peach salsa! I use the whole peeled Italian seasoned garlic a lot as well.
They have a great bread selection, although over time to me personally, they all start to taste the same. Still, I always get their pre sliced French bread, cobblestone bread, onion loaf, and occasionally the crossaints.
There is an above average selection of foods from different cultures too. Ghee, Japanese curry cubes, matzo soup mix - just to name a few that have caught my eye.
Overall, I can't really think or say anything bad about this supermarket. It's clean, efficient, and has selections that are above and beyond the average supermarket.
That being said, Trader Joe's still has them beat when it comes to cultural diversity and unique high end foods for decent prices - but there's a lot of staples you can't find at Joe's. Harding's has...
Read moreI have had many good experiences at Hardings, many of the workers are friendly and kind. Like the older ladies that work at the customer service desk. Also the young man that works there with his mother. All of these people are kind and respectful to me when I shop here The older two gentleman whom works at the deli are also kind. I'm a regular customer, I buy food and stop by to return pop cans here all the time. I live in the concord apartments, I have a lease for a year and have been here for a year. But I have also experienced discrimination at this store twice now. One I am not homeless, even if I was that's how you would treat a living being it's disgusting. See not everyone agrees with treating people unfairly. I was not lotering I bought a pack of cigs and a pop. I normally would have rested in the deli for a few minutes Due to my pregnancy. But I decided to sit outside because I have agoraphobia. The only exercises I have been approved of is walking at this time. So instead of wasting money we walk up to the stores. I was in pain and I was told by my doctor to rest when this occurs it's a normal part of pregnancy. That's what I was doing not just sitting around begging for anything. Second I might look younger, but I'm actually 31 so plenty old enough to take care of myself. I would like to see all of the workers become friendly, since your logo says friendly...
