Even though we donât go to Costco very often, I usually enjoyed shopping there but my family and I had enough with 3 bad experiences: 2 of them from my parents and one from me. To the point that I felt like I was discriminated by an American employee handing out food samples.
First, a few months ago my dad went to Costco alone and order food from the kiosk at food court and his receipt didnât print, (he does not speak English and not very tech savvy). He asked one of the employees there to see if his card got charged to which the employee said no and to try again. My dad was skeptical about this but decided to make the transaction again. After picking up his food, he went to the bank and check for his transactions and it did get charged twice on his card. The employee lied to my dad and had to wait a few days to get reimbursed from the bank.
Second time, about a month ago my mom and my brother went to Costco to buy groceries. My mom scanned her membership and no one told her that her membership was expired and let her in. Keep in mind we hardly shop at Costco and my mom is unaware when her membership ends. Anyways, they got everything they needed to get and were at the register ready to pay. Well the cashier told my mom that her membership was expired and she needed to pay. My mom had no problem in paying but itâs the way the cashier spoke and her nasty attitude to my mom that she decided to leave and not even renew her membership. I asked my mom if they told her as soon as her membership got scanned at the entrance if they made her aware if it was expired and she said no.
Fast forward to yesterday that I went with both my parents and as soon as our membership got scanned, the employee there made us aware that it expired and told us to renew it at the customer service desk. So, why did they failed to notify my mom last time she came in? That wouldâve saved the bad experience she had previously with the cashier. Anyways, we paid it and began shopping. We were walking through the fridge area when we approached the sample of buffalo wings, my mom and I patiently stood to the side waiting for the employee to finish putting the wings on the sample cups. There were about 9 cups of wings on the tray and the three customers that were there took about three samples each and didnât leave any for us. Thatâs fine, we waited for the next batch and the employee there saw us standing there waiting. Next batch comes and this time I grab one and my mom grabs one, keep in mind Iâm standing on the side, so the employee tells me to leave it alone so I did. She was older and like my parents say always respect your elders. I told her I was standing there the whole time, to her response âthese are very popular so thereâs a lot of people waitingâ so why did she wait to tell me when I already got my hands on one of the samples, why didnât she tell me when I was waiting for the first batch? And If theyâre so popular, why did she let the other customers take more than one sample? There was another customer who defended me and I didnât think of it first but the reason why she didnât tell the other customers, who took more than one sample, anything is because they were Americans. I felt discriminated because I didnât look like the other customers and her response was not reasonable. I didnât get the employees name but this occurred on 02/04/25 between 12:30-12:45PM at the fridge section. We continued walking through the fridge area and came across the samples of POM juice to which there was a customer standing to the side waiting for the employee to finish pouring juice and she did the same as I did. That employee did not even tell her anything at all. If I knew this was going to happen to me, I wouldâve never let my parents renew their membership. Costco needs to train their employees on better customer service and...
Read moreCostco in Oxnard? Hmm⌠Well, the selection is decent. But not as extensive as other Costcos. The gas prices are good. But the gas line moves way slooooower than other Costcos. Are the people nice? For sure. Are there enough employees to be nice? Never seems to be the case. Recently, on a Saturday night during the holiday season, I tried to go and simply return something, perhaps even buy something else as much as or maybe even more than what I was returning. At 7:01, the person at the door tells me theyâre closed! No more people allowed in. Wait, what?! Itâs A SATURDAY NIGHT. Thatâs right. DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON. What is going on with operations or management or hiring, etc. that itâs closing insanely, ridiculously early?! You canât blame COVID or the flu. People get sick all the time. Itâs up to management to properly staff their stores. Retail continues to have hiring challenges for sure. But really⌠itâs Costco! Câmon! Everybody shops at Costco. During the holidays. How much money is this location losing by NOT BEING OPEN during CRITICAL hours leading up to Christmas, Hannukkah, New Years, etc? As for other things, yeah lines are too long. Always too long. People spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on food that will go bad from waiting for too long. Why, oh why is the food court not indoors? Well whatever. But the Costco food choices have seriously slimmed down in recent years. They havenât offered veggies in forever. Iâve ordered cheese pizza. To get the order taken as cheese pizza. To drive home and discover itâs pepperoni. To drive back and get the cheese pizza. And apparently it takes forever to make cheese pizza? Whatâs frustrating is the cheese pizza is surprisingly pretty darn tasty for the cost. So yeah, sure we shop at âThe âCo.â Yeah, we like our CITI card too. But Thousand Oaks and other locations are a lot more tempting. Please Costco, youâre better than thisâŚ...
Read moreCostco in Oxnard has consistently proven to be an exceptional destination for all of my shopping needs. The extensive range of products, particularly the organic options, is one of its most remarkable features. For those seeking organic items, I highly recommend looking for the distinctive green label, which denotes the finest in quality and sustainability.
Convenience is another key advantage, especially for those of us who live nearby. I used to ride my bike to Costco, a practice I truly enjoyed, though I now find myself missing the bike locks that were once available for secure parking. The self-checkout stations are a particularly welcome feature, streamlining the shopping experience and making it even more efficient. While Costco can often be bustling with activity, careful timing can allow for a more relaxed visitâparticularly on weekdays, such as Tuesday through Thursday, when the store tends to be less crowded, especially an hour before closing.
Sundays and Mondays tend to see a higher volume of shoppers, making these days somewhat less ideal for those seeking a quieter experience.
In addition to the shopping experience, Costco offers a variety of other services that further enhance its value. The food court is a standout, offering satisfying and affordable meals, while the tire shop is consistently reliable for automotive needs. Furthermore, the gas station provides competitive pricing, making it a preferred stop for fueling up. For those who take pride in maintaining the appearance of their vehicles, the on-site car wash is another convenient and useful addition to Costcoâs array of services.
Overall, Costco in Oxnard offers an outstanding combination of quality, convenience, and value, making it a go-to destination for both essential shopping and various...
