Mum's Place — Local services in Pacific Grove

Over the past years, I have worked with an independent interior designer, a designer from a chain furniture store and now with the staff and owner of Mum’s furniture store in Pacific Grove. With the independent designer, we visited the designer showrooms in San Francisco ending up with a very beautiful custom (read expensive) design which probably reflected more of the designer’s taste than ours. With the chain furniture store, it was of course easier---no running around as they only could offer what was in their showroom. When we started thinking of decorating an entire house in the Monterey area, we visited stores in the Bay Area. We returned to the chain furniture store only to find that their style really did not match ours and the distance would be an issue. Thus, we seriously began to look at Mum’s where we had always window shopped. We found ourselves so welcomed by the staff and owner- without any pressure to purchase. After our visits to the Bay Area stores, we knew that Mum's pricing was extremely competitive. There appeared to be no limit to the product lines they could offer. We worked with their in-house designer who is fantastic in finding out your taste and how you are going to use an area so that you will end up “loving” your choices (her words).
