I will NOT select Clothes Mentor for my future needs. On the evening of 2/4/15 I went to CM to do some shopping. The staff did not greet me when I came in. They looked preoccupied with other things so I went about my business looking through the racks. I selected about 6 items and walked into an open dressing room. Two sales ladies were standing there and said nothing to me. When I came out I put the items on the rack designated for "things that are not going home". Again nobody even said they were sorry the clothes didn't work out, or can I help you with a different size? Meanwhile, a man and his wife walked in. Immediately they were welcomed and asked their name by a sales person. The couple had a British accent and they were given the Royal treatment, red carpet and all. The sales lady told them she wanted them to have an extraordinary experience, asked what they were looking for, showed them where to find their winter and summer selections, explained the stores policy of gently used items, explained it was not a consignment store, and offered help them with every selection and size. Asked them how their vacation was going, on and on it went. I guess she was hoping they were going to drop some big bucks in her store so she would treat the visitors like royalty and a local like a nobody. Then a second lady came into the store who was greeted by the other sales lady on duty. She was asked her name and was also told she would have a wonderful experience shopping at Clothes Mentor. Her name was repeated about 10 times while she was in there shopping. She was told she should step out of her comfort zone and buy something bright and colorful. The sales lady picked out dresses for her to try on, and of course told her she looked magnificent in everything. She even said, "you look hot as a button in that dress." It was like they were lifelong friends in the span of 20 minutes. I was in and out of the dressing room two times and not one sales person said a word to me even though I had arrived before the aforementioned customers. I'm sorry, but I was neatly dressed in clothing that I bought at that very store! I was also well groomed with my hair and makeup. But I was made to feel like chopped liver- like I didn't matter. The icing on the cake came when I went to the register to pay for a blouse I picked out. The girl at the register was very nice (no complaints there). But MY transaction was interrupted by the store manager, Mary. (I was so infuriated with her actions, I called when I got home and asked for her name). My purse was open because I was waiting to get my credit card back Mary interrupted the girl at the register to ask, "What happened to that pearl necklace that was just laying here by the register?" The girl said she didn't know. Mary persisted with- It was just here, what happened to it, did someone put it away, oh how this scares me when something goes missing, where could it be? Then she gave me a suspicious look because I was standing in the vicinity of the missing necklace. My blood began to boil at not only the rudness of the whole ordeal, but now I have to deal with her carrying on about a missing necklace. Well guess what...SHE FOUND THE NECKLACE IN A BUCKET BEHIND THE COUNTER! Then she tried to laugh it off about how it makes her so nervous when something is missing. Guess what, Mary and Clothes Mentor- you have a customer missing for all time. I live in Palm Harbor and I have many choices including Jays Closet where they are...
Read moreIt's pretty sad that I had to go from a 5-star review down to a one star that is permanently going to stay there. I've been going to Clothes Mentor for probably around 4 to 5 years am I pretty much bring in newer clothes because I'm a speaker, I'm on TV oh, and I lead a very busy life and I only wear the same things maybe two to three times. I've enjoyed shopping there I've enjoyed the girls and having fun there they know that all my clothes are fairly new sometimes I'll bring in a few that maybe a little bit older. I went in the other day and there was a woman there that I have never seen before, I can't comment on her appearance but she definitely did not fit in with the rest of the girls and that store. In any case I brought in the clothes I brought in a bag for charity which had Michael Kors bags and some Coach bags because I knew that they wouldn't be able to sell I told them if they could donate them to the woman shelter. I only brought in a handful of clothes, I dropped them off and then said that I would come back later on in the afternoon. I came back and they basically bought like three or four pair of my shoes for $11 which is fine, and then she proceeded to tell me that didn't buy my other clothes because they smelled like food. I said I have no idea what you're talkin about my clothes do not smell like food and then she proceeded inside will I have a great sense of smell and they smell like food then she had this other girl smell them and she goes they smell like spice I don't know what the hell these girls were talking about I took them back to my office I asked about eight people do my clothes smell like anything and they said absolutely not. But that wasn't the best part to the best part is that she said to me next time maybe you should wash them before you bring them in. Two of the outfits were brand new one of them was bought in their store and the other one was recently bought in California didn't try it on either and it didn't fit right so they were never worn.
As much as I enjoyed shopping there I will never step foot in that place ever again. Maybe she should look at getting her eyebrows done because she looked horrific. But this is a lesson learned that I shouldn't try to sell whatever I have left I'm going to be donating them at this point and have a better feeling...
Read moreI'm extremely upset with my experience today at clothes mentor usually the customer service is spot on. Today was absolutely HORRIBLE I arrived 5 minutes early to the store expecting a wait. My self, my 4yr old and a customer are waiting. 4 minutes to opening an employee is arriving and they let her in telling the women in front of me that the store isn't open yet locking us out again... which is fine I get it... then they come up to the door unlock and just walk off with no communication. Myself and the other customer didn't even know we could come in until it clicked in our heads "oh wait did they unlock it?" I have two baskets and some shoes, AND a 4yr old after loading it in and doing the usual process I let them know I'll be dropping off, leave, then come right back in and tell them my next appointment for my daughter is at 11 (an hour from then) but they're only 10 minutes up the road. she acknowledged and so my daughter and I start browsing, after trying to get the employees attention twice I get into a fitting room, from this point forward I don't even attempt speaking to an employee because no one is paying attention and let myself in with their key a few more times. After all of this 10:30ish they haven't EVEN started my trade and pretty much blame it because it was a drop off which I told her I corrected. Lack of communication is between staff to customer && Staff to staff. 10:55 they aren't through one basket my four year old is restless and I'm running late. Trying to stay as polite as possible I let them know we'll just finish where were at. To pretty much get told its my fault because i have two baskets and "it takes about 30 minutes per basket" ... little annoyed but bit my tongue had they started when they were supposed to.... I've had better experiences where two girls have worked a trade to speed things up in situations for other customers... this staff did not CARE at all! all the way at the end already 5 minutes late... no one offered to help me out by carrying one of my baskets.. which they HAVE done in the past and although I don't expect it today would have changed my opinion of them "no caring"... unfortunately no matter how great experiences have been in the past today's is having me rethink my...
