I recently visited Palm Springs and stopped by this store to buy gifts for friends and family who love mid-century modern items. The store carries a beautiful selection of clothing, books, and other unique pieces. However, my experience was deeply disappointing due to the treatment I received.
From the moment I entered, I felt uncomfortably watched. A tall, white male employee followed me throughout the store, closely observing what I picked up and what I had in my hands. I have never experienced this kind of scrutiny before, and it made me incredibly uncomfortable. The only positive interaction I had was with the cashier, who greeted me warmly and complimented my purchases.
As a Latino and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, it’s disheartening to feel unwelcome in a space that should celebrate diversity. I’ve never encountered this type of treatment back home in North Carolina, and I certainly didn’t expect it here. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
