I’ve been going to Aldi store number 018 for almost 10 years. Honestly I lost count. Since they opened actually. I think they opened around 2017? So maybe 7 years. And before that I’ve shopped frequently at other locations.
I have gone to store #018 almost WEEKLY in all that time. The amount of money I poured in there! I even have toys for my kid, books, a kitchen counter, bed sheets that I bought from there.
However lately they force me to do self check out which I personally don’t believe in. My time is money and if I have to work as my own cashier I should get paid. Now Aldi has relatively cheap prices and when it’s one or two things it’s fine. and so far their employees let me go through the cash register - especially if I have a big cart.
However, sometimes I have to return things because they sell them expired or about to. Again, they are relatively cheap compared to Publix (which I also frequent due to their BOGO deals and other discounts, and because they’re fresher and their customer services is LIGHT YEARS better).
So I’ve been on the fence about continuing to buy at Aldi. Especially since my sister has been going to Trader Joe’s and they are also just as cheap as Aldi - plus they are fresher and their employees treat customers better.
Today was the tipping point. I had a rough morning after dropping my kid from school, tired and before going back home stopped by for just some quick items. Bread and milk. I have a bigger purchase pending in two days when I time. And I WILL NOT being making it at Aldi. Not this store or any other. Ever again.
Neither will my entire family all which live in Palmetto Bay.
The tipping point was one of their fairly new employees. He was at the cash register and like I said before, I don’t believe in self check out. I’m a capitalist. My time is money. And Aldi is a corporation. Why should I work for free for them? It’s okay if others have a different point of view but this guy (unlike any other employee in any of ALDIs competitors) insisted I go to self checkout because the register was “cash only”.
Previous employees let us (me or my family) use the register even if we’re paying with card. This one was a little obnoxious so I said what I believe to be true “you’re gonna make your customers work for free?”
Yeah I was a bit of a Karen but I still went to the art check out and intended to buy the bread, cheese and milk. It was only those three items. I was still pissed off so I said “you need to get hire not employees. I’m a capitalist not a F-ing slave.” Even so I was still buying my items while vocalizing my disgruntlement.
And then the young man at the register - again already obnoxious, cold, unsympathetic and uncaring, talks into the microphone for all the store to hear, on purpose, and says “there’s a lady here being vulgar and saying curse words at me” …
All cause I said “I’m not an f-ing slave”? Or that I’m human and not a robot and so my first ration was vulgar to him?
What I find vulgar is how Aldi treats their disgruntled customers and doesn’t even try to figure out what’s wrong or what we find unsatisfactory. It’s it like I was calling that employee any names. Or attacking him. Which is how he narcissistically was trying to frame it.
Disgusting behavior from a representative of that company. They lost me as a loyal counter today and not just me.
My mother will no longer be shopping here. Or my sister. Or my father. Or my uncle and aunt. Or my niece when she comes visit. All Of us have benign going to this store since it opened here. We’ve been living in this area for almost ten years.
All of us, and our money will no longer be supporting this company.
After this event I bought my items at Publix. Lovely employees who always help. I never lost my temper there but I have witness how they calm their customers down and then talk to them respectfully and try to find a solution. They’re flexible. They care. They’re professional and disciplined. Unlike...
Read moreBAD EXPERIENCE TONIGHT!!! I really love this place. I have been going to this place consistently since it opened. All of the cashiers have been friendly until tonight. I had a very bad experience and also very poor customer service. Cashier told us that we needed to remove our chicken from the bags because she needed to scan them. I told her there has never been an issue since i started working there. The bags are placed by the meat so that you can put your meat inside of it protecting your other groceries. Sometimes the chicken is dripping and we dont want it dripping on our groceries. No cashier has told me they have an issue with it, and in fact they press the bag and scan the chicken. It it takes them seconds to do so. She then told me that is the other people but "not me, im not going to do it" and refused to continue scanning my groceries. She had huge attitude. I said lets talk to your manager and with a very. Condescending tone she said ok lets get him. Well a manager came to register and immediately she began to argue with the manager about the situation. She told the manager "this is not how i was trained and they have to take out the meat". I informed the manager this is second time this cashier has made a scene about the meat but the first time we took out the meat and she threw the meat on to our groceries without regard of how we felt. The manager began to tell her to do it and she continued to argue with the manager in front of about 10 customers. I asked the manager if this is policy that customers need to take the meat out of the bags because if it is then why is there bags infront of the meat for customers to use? He said no it is not in policy. She shook her head and continue to badger the manager. Wow! Who is in charge? This is how you adress an issue? She was very rude and confrontational. She later told me that this is how they trained her and they are always contradicting themselves. She scanned our meat and threw it into the cart without regard. I did not deserve to be spoken to the i was. And i definitely did not deserve to have her refuse my buisness until manager was involved. I still love coming to this aldi's and every other cashier was friendly but i definitely would rather wait till another register opened up before going to this girl again. She also got mad at the fact that i didnt slide my debit card while she was scanning my groceries. She wanted me to scan my card immediately after first scan, but i refused because what if i wanted to void an item or few items? So i waited till the end and she had an upset face. I understand about trying to get people put of store fast but man come on. Like i said every other...
Read moreI’m writing a review on behalf of a lady that was in line when I was shopping today. The worker at the register yelled from across the room asking her to go to the self checkout instead of waiting in her checkout line. The lady said she can’t because of how she wants to pay for her items. The worker, still yelling from across the room, asked if she’s using cash, to which the woman, obviously uncomfortable said she wants “to use a specific card, like a medical food card” (insinuating food stamps). The worker then said out loud “I don’t think we accept your type of card I only accept real money” which I believe to be so insulting, I truly was so shocked and felt so bad for this lady. When it finally got to this lady’s turn, surprise surprise they did actually accept her medical food card with no problems. I don’t appreciate how this worker tried to publicly shame and embarrass this lady. Usually I side with workers because I understand how customer service and retail can be, and when I was younger did similar jobs. However this lady was nothing but kind, patient, and respectful fully waiting in line for her turn and not doing anything wrong. This worker and some of the other coworkers should go through some kind of sensitivity training because this was an incredibly uncomfortable experience for everyone in the room, and it’s not the first time the workers at this location have been incredibly rude and disrespectful to people...
