Today was my first time at this deli and it will be my last. I came into the store and asked the people on the right side upon entering if I was meant to order at the deli or if I would be sat down to order. I believe there was a misunderstanding as when I asked, they said I could order at the front when I am ready. As I was waiting for someone else, I sat down on an empty table and was then approached by the hostess with a menu before I realized that I was meant to be sat down. I apologized and was told it was okay for me to sit where I was at while I waited for my friend. I arrived about 15 minutes earlier than the agreed upon time, and then I was immediately asked by the server that if I was waiting on someone. I replied yes, and I said they would be getting there soon. At this point, not even 2 minutes have passed before I am asked again by the same server if they will be coming. I gave the same response as the lady begins to tell me that I was not meant to be sitting down at my table as the hostess had to have sat me down. As I previously mentioned, this was my first time here and I was not told by the hostess or anyone else at that point that I be asked to move for a larger party to sit at my table, which I would have been more than happy to have done if I had been asked. Another two minutes passed and I am approached by another lady that tells me I need to order something and explains it and at this point the two older server ladies that have been pestering me were visibly annoyed. Normally, I would have just left immediately after being spoken to so rudely, but since I was waiting on a friend I decided to keep waiting. At this point the first server lady told me I need to order immediately and implied that she will kick me out if I do not, which I had already done so upon entering with an orange juice that I got from the fridge. I decided to get a bagel just so this lady would leave me alone until the next 3 minutes passed for when my friend arrived.
Finally, my friend and I were in the middle of eating and the same server brought us our check without having asked for it. In the restaurant business, this is a diss meant for difficult guests, however at this point my biggest offense was sitting down earlier, which again, could have been easily solved had I been told that there were other parties in queue.
Having said this, I was also paying attention to other guests around me to see if they were receiving similar treatment of being rushed to order and it was a difference of night and day; there were guests smiling, laughing with each other and their servers, and, in regards to my experience, they were not being rushed at all!
I understand that the time that I was at the diner was busy, however, as a server myself, it is absolutely not an excuse to treat guests rudely and of little importance as if though I was a nuisance rather than a willing customer. The sandwich that I ordered was decent but I couldnt properly enjoy what couldve been a much better experience had I been treated with as much decency as other guests around me were receiving, with laughs and interactions worth...
Read moreI have worked in a New York Jewish Deli for over10 years so I do know about Pastrami and Corned Beef Sandwiches. Your "Hot" Pastrami or Corned beef sandwiches cost $16.99 each. We ordered one of each with fries and drinks. What we got for $16.99 was appalling. Each sandwich was just a round ball of sliced meat between 2 slices of bread. Meat was barely warm and there was so much exposed bread. We had to take the ball of meat apart and make each sandwich more presentable. The rye bread didn't hold up to well while eating the sandwiches. Your fingers just went right threw the bread while eating it falling apart as you ate. There was no presentation to the food you serve. For $16.99 each there should've been a much nicer presentation to the sandwiches other than a ball of meat and 2 slices of bread. A sandwich should be made to be presentable and "HOT". You need to build a sandwich rather than flopping a ball of meat on bread for $16.99. The waitress didn't bring our included Cole Slaw, I had to ask the bus boy for it. The waitress was horrible and barely spoke english. .Why does the waitress hover over you when paying on the portable payer. Is she making sure she's tipped. We will not return...
Read moreI drove 45 mins from Brickell to try this highly regarded deli. Upon arriving, what I discovered makes me wish that I could get the $5 in gas back. The restaurant looked dirty and uncleanly, which made me regret the drive but I figured my friend and I should just give it a shot. Mind you, I checked both yelp and google for hours of the restaurant. Every source stated that the restaurant was open till 8 pm. I arrived there at 7:03 to find out the waitress and host were cleaning up early because they wanted to get out of there by 8. Which, struck me as an odd thing to do in the service business. When I asked if we could still order something the woman replied “no we are closed for the night” in a rude tone. Although my initial reaction to this was anger. I quickly realized after leaving, it was a blessing in disguise because I didn’t have to worry about my food having to be made in place that looked like a...
