El Weirdo — Local services in Panama City

One late evening foraging for food, my friend and I happened upon El Weirdo and decided to give it a go. We are so happy we did! The atmosphere is colorful, with great paintings and decorations and abstract wall art, the night air filled with chill music that just drifts over a body as though it were dancing along the hanging string of lights. Altogether, we had chicken tacos, beef tacos, and strawberry limeade. Simple fare by any standards, right? However, those soft taco shells were filled to the brim with amazingly rich, full bodied flavors all melded together that just awakened every little taste bud in our mouths such that all we could do was chew, close our eyes in wonder and murmer "mmmmm." I was fully impressed, dazzled, and then saddened when the last bite was consumed. Add to the atmosphere and the food was the pleasure of great staff who were very friendly, helpful and patient with us newcomers as we asked many questions. If Salvador Dalí and Max Headroom had opened a taco joint, this would be it. Walking into El Weirdo is like stepping into a parallel universe where time slows down, your taste buds get confused, and you find yourself questioning your very existence. But in a good way.

First off, the tacos. These aren't your average, run-of-the-mill, “oh yeah, I’ve had tacos before” kind of tacos. No, no. These tacos are like the psychedelic dreams of a sentient tortilla. And the green verde salsa? It’ll slap you in the face like Satan baby sat your kids for 4 hours, then give you a hug and a kiss.

The decor is just as mind-bending. A mix of art from local keepers of the universe and electronics from the forgotten wasteland. And the front end bar staff know their beers and cocktails. Try telling them you like sour but not sour beers, and they will make you a drink of unknown origin. Beers at perfectly pulled and fresh as daisies.

You cannot go wrong with the weirdness of El Weirdo. Skip the touristy stuff and just get real and live life...

Drove from Tallahassee fl to come to this place for a planned birthday dinner we called a couple of days prior to coming to let them know how many people etc. the people over the phone were super nice and told us that they would accommodate us and our party and have the dinner tables ready etc. Apon arriving to this establishment the gentleman and woman behind the bar seemed annoyed that we came in with an expected party of 14 people they told us that seating was in the back and come up front when we were ready to order…. We proceeded to the back only to find that we actually have to move all of the tables and chairs in order to accommodate our party guests but also didn’t have enough room to even accommodate a party that large. We ended up leaving and going to peppers. Over all I wish that when we called they could have told us that they actually couldn’t accommodate our large dinner party but further more I wish that the people behind the bar...
