The Bagel Maker — Restaurant in Panama City

This place ALMOST has all the makings of an epic, cozy hometown style bagel shop. We appreciate the quirky fresh artisan breads and sandwich options. It's nice to see some of the basic standard bagels made fresh here, and they smell heavenly. The flavor profile is nearly there. ALMOST all the pieces are in place for those "early bird gets the fresh bagels" in the morning kind of breakfast runs for family or am office meetings.

Only two things are missing the mark. First is the stingy, pitiful little bit of cream cheese that actually gets put on the barely toasted bagel. Second, and this might be dictating the first, the consistency of the bagels is heavy, dense, spongy and chewy. 😔 IDEALLY, the exterior (especially after being properly toasted) should be crisp, yet chewy with toppings from onions or garlic to sesame or poppy seeds that should have a light, crisp, toasted smell, flavor and crunch. The INTERIOR should contain a decent amount of AIR among the fluffy, delicious soft bread part. That air space provides a home for the light melting butter coat and/or generous schmear of good quality cream cheese. 🤩 Whipped and flavored options are welcomed. 😉 Because these bagels are dense and spongy, any application other than a thin aenemic layer of filling only squeezes out the back when you bite into it. Accordingly, you may wear your artsy avocado egg and sprouts bagel sandwich filling. 😦

okay so i’m gonna start by saying the food is good not even going to lie! this is only my second time coming to the bagel maker and the first time it was quick and easy no issues! i decided today why not go again so my girlfriend and i stopped in to get some good breakfast and there was a line but nothing insane when we got there, we waited a few minutes not long and someone took our order got two exceptional eggs w bacon. after we said what we wanted, a few minutes went by and as we were walking to the counter to pay we were asked what cheese we wanted. let me say this my girlfriend wears hearing aids and couldn’t hear what was asked so i was trying to relay the question and the person asking had a huge attitude about it and rolled their eyes and then after we paid and were waiting for our food to come up 2 of the employees which was the one at the cash counter and the one making the food started making comments about us being tourists and just having attitudes in front of us(we’ve lived here our entire lives). i get it being frustrated when it’s busy it happens, i’ve been there done that but never talk about your customers in front of them, it’s very...

Best breakfast on planet. I found myself in cove on big air conditioning job and told the guys I’d go buy breakfast. Can’t stand the fast food and all of the only in and out chains down Harrison and 15th street. Lil did I know what experience I was going to get next. Two gentlemen on front patio greeted me on way in as they enjoyed their coffee. Next was the plethora of great food and designs of food that somebody actually takes pride in.... kinda like when u go home for a special meal or family get together where everyone brings their best. Most amazing friendly people on the planet makes you feel right at home being a local it’s hard to find these days.
