Took in to David for hairline crack on the screen of my HP envy touchscreen laptop. When I took in half the screen had touch features and when I received didn't have touch feature at all but hairline crack was gone. Basically I recieved in the same if not worse condition than I left it.
Took in on Wednesday 21 Aug, and I was given an estimated time of completion of 4 hours, then David ended up cracking the LCD so they estimated Friday to get a new part. I specifically stated I needed by Monday because my grad classes started on Monday 26 Aug, he assured me he would get the part with expedited shipping and it would be done. Friday rolled around and part wasn't in, so moved completion day to Monday at noon. David contacted me 30 min before closing on Monday stating the digitizer I supplied was faulty and he needed more time to put it back together and he would call me when it was ready. I never received a call stating my laptop was ready all day Tuesday so I showed up Wednesday unannounced to see what the issue was now. When getting there David actually had my laptop completed after a week. The bezel around my screen was in bad shape, the screen on the left corner is popping out because it doesn't have proper adhesion. All this and they still want to charge a diagnostic fee. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever received, I never post complaints because if a company is consumer focused they would attempt to fix the issue in one way or another. Not ifixomaha they kept arguing that I needed to pay for the 6 hours of labor which was their fault in cracking my LCD. Not only did the repair take a week longer than expected with horrible communication throughout but the quality very poor.
FYI When I spoke to Troy the General Manager he stated that replacing the screen on those computers was impossible without replacing the digitizer so I don't know why they even...
Read moreMy wife recently dropped her phone and the screen cracked, great, we call ifixomaha papillon and they install the new screen. A month later the screen cracks underneath the glass. We take it back because the screen is useless. They said sorry can't do anything but replace the screen. Me being frustrated already say I don't want it fixed and the repair wasn't done correctly. They download her stuff and get it uploaded to the cloud no problem. Me further looking into the phone thought it was odd the lcd cracked and not the screen itself. I take it to a competitor and they tell me the screen wasn't seated properly so I take it back to Ifixit to tell them it was essentially their fault but the person behind the counter insisted it was my fault and that the frame was bent. They never notified us the frame was bent but when I tell him it's their fault he told me that is not their fault why the frame was bent and that I needed to pay them $200 after spending $230 for a new screen and screen protector that was another $25 one month ago. I told them that it's poor worksmanship so he said he'd take it to the back and put the original screen back on it and I could take it somewhere else, I said I wanted to get out of the store and I would pay for the screen but the screen has a major defect in the new screen and he would replace that screen. At this point I was ready to leave and said it just going to trade the phone in because, 1: the new screen is still not seated correctly, 2: the new screen has a blemish in it and, 3: i had to pay twice for something they should've notified me of the first time I took it in and, 4: the frame is still bent. I used to take all of my broken devices to have them repaired here but next time I will be finding another place to do business with. UPDATE: Phone screen cracked in the same spot a week later rendering the...
Read moreThey do great work, and can special order parts if you have an uncommon phone. I only have a few gripes.
They shipped one special order to the wrong store. So, I was given the choice to wait a week for them to deliver it to the correct store, or drive pretty far out of my way to get the work done.
Communication was lacking. I had two special ordered parts for two phones that needed fixing. I was informed that I would be contacted when the parts arrived, and I was not. I had to call them myself to find out if my parts were in, despite being told otherwise. They have both my email address and phone number on record, so I'm not difficult to track down.
They only give out the phone number for their main store. You can't call the store of your choosing directly, you first have to go through someone else. It makes contacting someone about an order or repair difficult.
They broke the screen on my wife's phone while replacing the battery. They made it right by rush shipping a replacement screen and replacing it at no cost to us, but my wife had to spend a few days without a phone, which sucked.
They replaced the screen on my son's phone, but didn't connect/align the proximity sensor correctly. A few days after the repair, we discovered that the screen would go out during calls, because the proximity sensor was incorrectly thinking that your cheek was up against the screen. We had to make a second trip to the store so they could pull the phone back apart and fix the sensor connection. They did so at no cost to us.
Overall, my experience was positive, the prices are reasonable, and they rescued two phones for me that would have otherwise had to have been replaced. I recommend testing your phone thoroughly before leaving the store. You'll save yourself a second trip in the event something isn't...
