The restaurant had lots of seating all over. So why did my husband and I get shown to a 2-seater table when all other couples were at booths? When I asked for a booth, the gentleman seating us needed to ask "permission" for us to be at a booth. Seriously?!?! The dad that came in after us with his 7 year old son immediately got seated at a booth. At least our waitress (Lexi) was wonderful. Attentive without being in our faces all night. The food? An appetizer of fried pickles. My husband loves fried pickles. They tasted like they were soaked in salt after they were fried. Nope. Couldn't eat those. Ordered a 6oz Dallas filet with mushrooms, seasoned rice, and fully loaded sweet potato. The mushrooms were huge! I was so excited, until I put it in my mouth. Is that....salt? Again?! My husband had a sirloin with mushrooms. His mushrooms also had a heavy salt taste to them. Okay, well, the filet should be good right?! It's nice and juicy. Cooked a perfect medium! And SALT!!! What the heck?! Well, not eating that either. The sweet potato was good at least even though I scraped off the marshmallow. And I still have seasoned rice. A couple small bites of that too had salt through it. I thought it was me, but my husband tasted it also and noted the flavor. His steak had a slight salty taste, but he had medium rare with au jus and horseradish that could have masked the taste some. He enjoyed his meal. Our waitress got the manager when she saw I hadn't eaten most of my dinner. He asked if he could get me something else. I told him I was too afraid anything else coming out would be just as salty and I didn't want to put the restaurant in that position of something else possibly not getting eaten. The rice wasn't associated with the pickles, mushroom or steak but it was all salty and this wasn't my first trip to this restaurant. The manager gave 1/2 credit for the steak and removed the cost of the pickles. He was real nice about it. Came back just before we left and stated he hopes we'll come back. The place is 5 minutes drive from my home, but I doubt we'll ever return. That much salt in everything was simply too much compared to my previous...
Read moreLet's have a conversation about this restaurant... I had never been to a Texas Roadhouse before and had high hopes.
We were seated at a table and were ignored for 15min.. The server finally appeared and took our drink orders while asking if any of us were new. I said I was. He seemed genuinely shocked. He then said I'll give you a few minutes to look over the menu and disappeared again!! I can only assume the little bucket on the table was supposed to have peanuts.. yet there was none and the inside of the bucket weirdly enough looked like the inside of an ashtray. The server then reappeared to take our order and seemed annoyed that I needed to know what "loaded" meant since I have a severe onion allergy and need to know what to request it off of. I choose a bacon double cheeseburger that I was not asked how I wanted it cooked. The burger arrived at the table with.. you guessed it onion. I sent that back and attempted to eat my baked potato that was "loaded" with maybe a 1/4tsp of butter, 6 little pieces of cheese and a tablespoon or so of bacon bits.. I made due and when our server reappeared I asked for more toppings. He brought back the butter and bacon and nothing else... 45 MINUTES later I recieved my burger. (THIS IS THE REDEMPTION ARC) In this moment Ali enters the chaos. She asked if she could do anything for me and I said a box since my companions were done eating. In that moment our server reappeared and noticed we had empty glasses. For the last 30min or so we were all empty. Ali the angel asked if she could do anything to get me to come back and I responded with a box and zero bill. Ali had full discretion to tell me no. She asked and zeroed out our bill. You would assume this is where the story ends but, alas it is not. Our server reappeared and asked if we needed anything and we just chose a box. He returned with the box and the bill and said.. "You got her to take care of it, good on ya"..
I will only give Texas Roadhouse a chance again because of Ali.
Ps.. my burger was cooked until it was...
Read moreThe overall rating is based on our experience at this particular location as a whole. The service was fair for a very casual restaurant. Initial interaction with the host staff for seating could have been better. Maybe have more of a welcoming attitude rather than an annoyed one.
Our server was nice and did get our drinks, bread and appetizers out right away. Overall, since their section wasn't busy, they could have been a little more attentive on refills and other items, but still did a good job.
Other than the bread, butter and salads, the rest of the food was very underwhelming. Way too much salt on the food. It's like the lid on the salt shaker fell off when they were making our food. I am a person that doesn't really taste salt unless it's a lot and this was a lot, as we all agreed it was an issue with our entrees. The cook on the steaks was also not cooked as ordered, so that was another issue. For a steak place you'd expect that's something they can do fairly well at, especially when the restaurant wasn't busy, so it's not like the kitchen was going crazy pushing out tickets. Veggies were old and soggy, so those are something that will be ordered in the future.
Actually, I will add another positive for an item. We got the mushrooms and they were good.
We've been here many times before and the food was better, so hopefully this is just a one-off experience, and next time we visit I'm hoping it goes better. If so, I'll adjust my feedback accordingly. So, if you feel like having some food and don't mind the $20-$30 for a decent meal try this place, but based on our most recent experience don't expect to be overly impressed. The meals me think that they are comparable to a steak at Village Inn or Perkins.
On a positive note, it's food, and someone else is cooking and doing the dishes. Really only giving the 3 Stars is because our kids liked the decor and experience there and seeing all the Texas...
