Edit update: I posted a 3 star review (below) for the Lip Lab Las Vegas because of some issues around logistics and miscommunication. Today, I emailed customer service and the Lip Lab manager, Heather, not only responded same day, but immediately resolved the issue and included a refund for the booking fee based on the misinformation issue. The prompt response and unexpected resolution of my complaint is more than enough reason to change my review to 5 stars. My party was really fun, my guests had a great time, and Heather resolved the issues as soon as she was made aware, so I will definitely be going back for another custom color. When a company responds in the way Heather did it is definitely worth another visit.
Yesterday, I took 6 friends to the Lip Lab in Las Vegas at the Fashion Show Mall for my birthday. The experience overall was fun, energetic, and we had a great time. Cheyenne and Alexis did a great job keeping us entertained, and getting all the lip colors just right. My reason for three stars isn't because we had a bad experience, it was the little things on the logistics side that were an issue.
First, at time of reservation you are required to place a deposit. In my case, it was a deluxe party so, $25pp. No problem at all. However, I specifically asked "The deposit is deducted from the total, correct?" and the girl taking my reservation said yes. Cool. And in the contract the fee is referenced as a deposit, though it does not specify the deposit will be deducted, I did ask and expected the answer to be correct. It also states in the contract that the party culminates when all lipsticks are complete and distributed, but we were told it would take about 35 minutes to complete the lipsticks (no problem at all) but we could only stay another 20-minutes because another party was coming in. In the end we left, wandered a bit and then went back to retrieve our items.
Next, the deluxe party includes drinks and sweet treats which is listed as cupcakes, macarons, and small bites, and the picture shows a lovely tiered tray display. What we received, however, was 1 cupcake per person and peach or strawberry Perrier. The drinks were perfectly fine and the cupcakes were amazing, but they came in a box with cupcakes and macarons for another party, so we didn't get everything promised and the cupcakes were simply distributed one cupcake per person on shared plates. Made things a bit messy and awkward. The deluxe party also includes your choice of music which I did not get. Cheyenne simply turned on music for us - which was the least of my concerns - but I wouldn't not have chosen Bowie, Flock of Seagulls, and basic 80's throwback.
Finally, when the process was explained at the beginning of the party we were told our choices were 1 lipstick or 2 lip balms. It was a very reasonable expectation, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't quite right. I couldn't quite figure out what was bothering me so I shook it off and enjoyed the day. It wasn't until later that I realized the advertisement (in their shop) for the deluxe party says: Custom lip color can include either 1 lipstick, 2 lipsticks or 1 balm + 1 lipstick. I'm pretty sure my entire party would have loved to get 2 lipsticks. Personally, I would have wanted 1 lipstick + 1 balm.
Overall, this was a fun way to have a party and I'm happy with the lipstick results, but the issues I've mentioned above make this a 3 start event from a financial perspective, and I wouldn't hold a party here again.
P.s. Don't bother calling the shop anytime after noon because they don't answer the phone and they don't return voicemail. I left 3 vm's over the course of 3 weeks and received zero...
Read moreMy mother and I experience wasn't very good. I paid full price for a below average experience. Maybe this is what you're/ they're supposed to do but the lady just asked me what color lipstick do I wear and she mix up colors to match what I already have. The only good thing was I named it myself. There was no, try this color or this looks great with your tone. It was as basic as it comes. Now I will add that we was the last customers. Soooooo, maybe they was tired/ drained. Because she said they wouldn't be able to finish 4 lipstick by closing only 3. She added, we could come back tomorrow. However, we couldn't do that because our flight left early the next morning. So I'm not totally against LipLab because I will be returning. I'm just gonna go really early to see what type of experience I have then. I also advise anyone who's interested to do the same. I only gave 2 stars because if I'm gonna pay full price I feel I should receive a full experience. Nearly $200 for a below basic...
Read moreI had this awesome experience on yesterday with a friend. I believe the employees are called color experts. They were very friendly and professional. The facility is beautiful and very clean. I enjoyed making my own lip gloss. You have a choice of making a lip gloss, lip balm, or a lip stick. The employees make sure they you are satisfied with your choice and they also make suggestions for something slightly different from your original choice as well. My lip gloss was $59. My friend’s lip stick was $70. You get to name your product as well. It something awesome to do for a different experience. They operate by appointment only and card only for payment. I enjoyed the experience and I will definitely...
