I grew up in Chicago. My grandmother took me to the stockyards every Friday morning. She'd flick through slides of beef like they were dresses at a department store. Then we'd go home and spend hours cutting up the cow into steaks. So I know meat. Las Vegas is known for its steakhouses. The Capital Grille (with an E) is one of the best--it has amazing food for (almost) NOT Las Vegas Strip prices. Yes, it can be spendy. However, this is one of the few Las Vegas Strip steakhouses where I believe you get a value for the price. All the steaks are dry aged. That means the meat hangs in a temperature-controlled locker for 18-24 days. The exterior rots but it makes the remaining meat as tender as, well, butter. You don't need a steak knife for a dry-aged steak. The only way to eat meat, in my opinion. The veggies are also a wonder. Mashed potatoes, of course. But the crispiest, saltiest French fries around. They even make the brussel sprouts taste so good a five-year-old wouldn't complain. And the salads-they make a vegetarian proud. The house salad is piled high with field greens, the reddest tomatoes, radishes and carrot shavings. A wonder. The caesar is loaded with anchovies for that salty sea smack. At lunch the restaurant serves a chicken caesar salad with a breaded cutlet crowned on top. The clam chowder is creamy, briny and loaded with clams. The crab and lobster sandwich had a net full of both fish. The crab was torn into pieces and the lobster was in chunks. The kitchen was not stingy. Don't miss the creme brulee. It arrived with a cap of the freshest blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. They added some pucker to the super sweet crunch of the sugary top. Down below was creamy goodness. The bar is always hoppin' day and night. The dining room is on the second floor, so you get a bird's eye view of the Las Vegas Strip, which is always entertaining. The dining room is sun-drenched. Don't miss the whimsical portraits of Elvis, Frank and Sammy on the walls by the elevator. The only negative: when the restaurant is crowded, the service is frustratingly slow. You can access the restaurant from Las Vegas Boulevard if you are on foot. Locals, park in the red lot and take the elevator right into the restaurant. You have dozens of restaurants to chose from if you want a topnotch steak in Las Vegas. I'd start at the Capital Grille...

Awful experience. Worst most horrific service from start to finish I have ever seen in Las Vegas. The restaurant closed at 9 PM, and the hostess who took my reservation made it for 9 PM. We had planned our Thanksgiving dinner for 3 people for months and we ONLY wanted the Capital Grille. Valet was full so we were 8 minutes late and the hostess did not even greet us properly. We were ushered to a table and the server told us the kitchen was closing so we had to get our order in and literally did not give us any information on the Thanksgiving dinner. Did not give us any information on the menu, on the cuts of meats on anything whatsoever at all. We were left for quite some time and then another person came over and asked us if we wanted water, then I had to aggressively ask every single question we had on the menu for my entire party in one shot because it seemed like she didn’t even want to tell us what the Thanksgiving dinner was or go over details on the menu. We were prepared to order enough food for six people as we are bodybuilders and can eat a lot for our only cheat meal of the month, even though it was three of us - but she didn’t want to make the money or give us the chance to order the plenty we wanted. She left out what dishes came with the Thanksgiving dinner and I had to pry to ask if there was stuffing - so nuts. We didn’t have enough silverware for every single course it was a huge problem. I felt like I had to beg to order separate cuts of meat. When I asked for more stuffing she said that the kitchen was full of the servers eating it and she had to steal some from them. Disgusting. Every course that came our plates were not cleared from the previous course. When dessert arrived we sat there without dessert spoons for nearly 20 minutes until I got up and took them off of the table next to us. 10 minutes prior I had to hunt down a Server and ask him for silverware for our dessert, he gave us all salad forks. This is so depressing as I loved the Capital Grille and the food is excellent - the service was downright God awful. I will never ever return there again. We left an 11% tip and that for me I have never done my entire life - I usually tip 40%. We were treated like dogs. Written by a Las...

If you want to enjoy quality food at a higher end restaurant this is the place to go. The price reflects the quality.

I went with 4 guests and we all spent about $70 on our main dish and $15-$25 on appetizers/sides. None of us got drinks because nothing popped out though staff did recommend a few options. If you like to pair a wine with your meal this establishment can accomplish that. Staff was overall quick and friendly. The table was small but surprisingly staff kept it de cluttered so it didn’t feel to bad. My meat came out slightly under medium rare which is completely fine. I’d much rather under than over. It had a beautiful crust with amazing flavors. Each steam and fish really stood alone as a dish. The filet mignon.was extremely tender and tasty, the bone in ribey had excellent flavor complimented by the light topping it had, the New York strip though was by far the best to me but I enjoy that cut. The final dish was the sea bass. It was cooked to perfection, presented amazingly at hit all the flavor marks I’d like. For the sides the Mac and cheese was good but didn’t feel like enough to share maybe I just wanted to eat it all but the asparagus did the job perfectly. Finally we got the flourless chocolate espresso cake. I personally liked the dish but the other guest thought it was a bit sweet. So if you enjoy sweet or coffee this is for you. The coffee really stands out.
