Usually I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and I am very familiar with doctors and nurses, I go to a specialist every 4 months. I have 2 AI diseases so doctors and nurses never worried me. Never have had any issues with trust in medical professionals before this incident. For reference, Iâm a 19 yr old female and I was admitted on February 28th, 2022. Initially the nurses and staff were very kind (I believe the nurse on my stay was named Josie) and I was in the hallway due in to over crowding. And I get it, it was night shift for them and I bet they had a very hard shift so far- so I wasnât surprised when they gossiped about patients and experiences but when they started to ignore patients and even gossip about them very loudly, I was appalled. I worked in the food industry, so I get when you have hard people youâre dealing with but the one lady was just asking about her prescriptions and to check up on her stayâŠ. So basically just making sure she was okay. But when I was put into a room, which I didnât have a problem waiting- im not one to complain. I went to bed. I have a history of asthma and woke up around 5 am or so, and asked the nurses assistant (which they only checked on me maybe 4 times max⊠during my 12 hour stay) if I could have an inhaler, they asked if I had a prescription on me in my bag and I said no, but itâs in my chart- I have it prescribed. They said they sent it to the pharmacist and weâre going to get it when they can. It was getting worse and worse, I kept coughing and I couldnât breathe. I was honestly embarrassed and terrified. I have never been treated this way by any of my doctors⊠they never came back with the prescription and I was transferred to a different facility around 8am. This experience has definitely made me lose trust in medical professionalsâŠ.. I am having health problems right now and I am terrified to go back into any emergency room at any facility because of this. I just wanted to make UH aware of what happened at least- they sent a letter a week or 2 ago to ask me about my experience, which Iâm used to, but this time when I got it I...
Read moreThis emergency room is a death trap. My symptoms progressed. I was coughing every 3-5 minutes, chest pains, lungs hurting, shortness of breath, body aches to the point of not being able to walk, positive test results at home. I was told by my doctor to get the monoclonal antibodies at an ER because of my age and health conditions plus the fact that I qualify. After triage, I was put in a small waiting room for 3 1/2 hours, they brought others into that room which had no physical barriers, and chairs that were less than 5 feet apart. I went to use the bathroom and saw room after room being empty. Short staffed? Then the doctor came in after 3 1/2 hours. And with absolutely no privacy started talking about my health condition. I was about to take off my coat, which I was wearing because of the chills, but She hastily listened to my lungs with a stethoscope by placing it on the outside of my winter leather coat. Doctors know itâs unadvisable to even listen through a shirt. She told me it was positive test for breakthrough Covid and then She told me that I âwould notâ be getting anything (prescription or what not) and dismissed me telling me to contact my doctor 2 days later; (because it was the weekend). Itâs a day later and insurance wonât pay for another ER VISIT. And my symptoms are not improving. This might be the beginning of long Covid aftereffects for me. I live in the Parma area. 4 years ago, my late wife was suffering from severe aftereffects of chemo. She was receiving treatment from Parma hospital. I took her to their ER in a wheelchair. She couldnât walk at this point. She was dry heaving and crying for 1 1/2 hours in their waiting room. I watched them take patient after patient who were laughing and telling jokes to each other. F**kin unbelievable! I told them I was taking her to Southwest General instead. Low and behold a room opened up. They havenât...
Read moreIf I could give them less than 1 star, I would. My niece was taken to Parma Emergency on January 11, 2024. She was in artrial fibrillation. The dedicated staff registered her confirming she was in atrial fibrillation did some blood work and made her wait over 3 hours before getting her a bed. Meanwhile nobody came out to see if she was okay or explain why the delay. By the time she went back to see a doctor for the 1st time, she came out of the atrial fibrillation. The aide that took us back to see the doctor, dressed down my niece for harassing the staff & proceeded to tell my niece & I, the patients that were back there and what they were in, there goes patient confidentiality. March 13, 2024 my niece received a letter from the "Patient Advocate" and responded to the issues my niece told her about. She could find nothing wrong about her treatment while in the emergency room. Never addressing how she was called a "troublemaker" or the why this employee felt she could talk about other patients conditions nor the fact there were 8 unoccupied beds when we went back. To me it looks like a case of "CYA" at it best
I just read your response and it shows me nobody read my review. If you did, you would have seen your "Patient Advocate" had already responded to our original concerns about the emergency room and basically condoned the way my niece was treated by your staff. I do not like being patronized by someone who doesn't fully want to investigate an issue and tries to sweep it under the table and hopes it will go away. You people are dealing with peoples lives if you've forgotten that and this is one person who will fight for my niece's well being and will...
