This is honestly the worst hospital I have ever been to.
On July 25th 2018 I found out I was pregnant for the first time. My fiancé and I were super excited to be bringing a baby into the world. We got it confirmed and went on planning for this baby.
Come July 30th 2018 I was at work and I felt a warm goosh of fluid. I went to bathroom and realized I was bleeding. I immediately left work called my fiancé and mom and went to Parma UH.
When I arrived I sat in the waiting room for about 45 minutes to an hour in pain bleeding and hysterical. They finally got me into a room I had my nurse come in and introduce herself and Dr. Gary Joseph came in and introduced himself as well. They told me that they would start me on something to help with the pain and get me back for an ultrasound.
Fast forward 2 hours still no pain medicine, still bleeding, and finally the ultrasound tech shows up. They started preparing to wheel me out and I asked if my mom or fiancé could come with me. I’m 19 years old bleeding and terrified of what is going on. The ultrasound tech said no they were not aloud to come with me. She brings me into the room for the ultrasound and they start with the stomach ultrasound first. She started pushing the probe SO hard into my stomach. I said ouch in pain and she said kept doing it. Then she tells me that I have a lot of bowl movement in the way and starts pushing on my stomach with her hands as hard as she can trying to “move” my bowls. My pain immediately got worse. Then they started the transnational ultrasound as soon as the probe was inserted I was in unbearable pain. My sciatic nerve ended up pinched for 2 weeks because I was clenching so hard in pain. She continues moving the probe while I am sobbing in pain and does not once show any sign of caring how much she was hurting me. They also will not tell me what is going on with my baby.
After the ultrasound I was taken back to my room in the er. I felt the need to urinate so I had my mom and fiancé help me to the bathroom because I couldn’t walk from the pain of my back and abdomen. When I sat down to pee I started dropping clots and bleeding heavier and finally I dropped a huge clot of tissue about the size of a tennis ball. I called my mom in to look at it and she started crying. We called the nurse in and she said that she didn’t want to look at it but that she believed me. My baby had literally fallen out of me in the toilet. I had already been there for 3 hours and still no pain medicine and no doctor. On the way back to my bed from the bathroom I lost my vision starting to pass out and my fiancé caught me and helped me into bed.
I layed in that bed sobbing in pain and terror for another 2 hours before my mom went and asked the nurse where the doctor was and what was going on. She told us that he was reviewing the ultrasound at that time and would be in shortly. Another hour went by and my mom asked again. She said the same thing.
2 more hours later Dr. Joseph walks into my room with a smile on his face and asks “what’s wrong?” So being the situation and mind state I was in I responded “my fing baby fell out of me while you were off twittling your dck somewhere.” Dr. Joseph took his gloves off. Threw them in the garbage and walked out of the room. My mom followed him. He walked into a little room across the hall. My mom knocked multiple times but he would not open the door. We waited another 30 minutes before my mom and fiancé picked me up out of bed with my IV Cathetor still in my arm and we left. One of the nurses followed behind and took my IV out in the car before we left. And we went to Southwest General Hospital. I was told that I was miscarrying within 30 minutes of arrival. Within the first 10 minutes my blood work was done. They were giving me IV fluids and pain medicine. They did a pelvic exam and told me that my cervix was open and that I would pass the miscarriage naturally.
I will never return to Parma UH again. I would really like to spit in Dr. Joseph’s face for leaving me in pain for HOURS then walking in like he...
Read moreThis weekend I visited the ER with an excruciating level of pain. I had last a cap to the tooth and after trying unsuccessfully all day Saturday to get a dental appointment I found myself in such pain I decided to go to the Parma ER at 3am on Easter Sunday morning. I was finally able to be seen by the triage nurse at 345 am. When asked what my level of pain was from 0-10 I told him an 18. My ear, jaw, eye and tooth pain had me shaking and nearly in tears. The triage nurse was cold and unsympathetic and seemed to take forever to look up my past chart which had my allergies listed incorrectly. The only time he moved quickly was when I told him 'Im going to need a bucket.' so that I could vomit from the pain. We were then taken to an exam room at the back of the hall where we waited over 4 hours with NO visit from the Dr. During that time we only heard her once visiting with a patient near my room. After two hours of unbearable pain my wife began asking when we would see the Dr and explained my level of pain to the staff. She was met with the comment 'We're very busy and there is only one Dr." I was amazed that there was only one Dr on a Saturday night, during a full moon and during the first of the month, which is atypical high volume time for most ER's. When we arrived there were only 4 other patients in the waiting room. The pain continued to escalate to the point that I vomited on the floor several times. Despite my wife telling the desk staff, NO ONE came to check on my condition and NO ONE came to clean it up. Finally a nurse by the name of Bill came in to check on me (after nearly 2 hours this was the first time we saw anyone) and he said the Dr had prescribes an anti-nausea pill, which he gave me along with a cold compress. At this point there was still no sign of the Dr. My wife again attempted to convey to the staff my level of pain which now had me sobbing uncontrollably. My wife was so angry at this point but still couldn't get the Dr. to see me. Aftre 4 hours of the worst pain I have ever had that had me begging the nurse to see the Dr. the nurse told me that his hands were tied but that the Dr had written orders to give me a 600 mg Motrin even though she had not even seen me or diagnosed me yet. At this point we told Bill about how dissatisfied we were and asked how much longer it would be to see the Dr. He told us that there were three other patients before us. An hour later we still had not seen the Dr or even heard her on the floor. We decided to leave and stopped at the desk to say "we're leaving!" "Okaaaaay By-eeeeee," said the young woman at the desk who didn't even comprehend the situation and why we were leaving. An older nurse, who we had not seen up to this point, looked at the clock and said "Don't leave." After having the worst care I have ever received and given the pain level I was in I cannot believe the treatment level was so poor or uncaring. As my wife helped me down the corridor and back to the car she noticed a plaque on the wall and turned to the staff at the desk and yelled "Pillar of Care. my ASS!" Parma Hospital you should be ashamed...
Read moreI recently went into the ER with breathing problems. I spent 15 minutes signing in, filling out some stupid sheet, while answering the same questions the receptionist was asking. Finally my husband stated, "my wife is gasping for air, her pulse ox is low, she needs oxygen now." Not once was this stated to her, but three different times. My husband was told there are 2 people ahead of her, so you need to take her over to the waiting area and we will call you when we are ready. 20 minutes later the nurse brought me back into the room where my pulse ox was 84%. She immediately put me on O2 and stated i should have called 911. I was immediately brought to a room where everything just got more crazier! I am claustrophobic. I cannot handle being in any confined spaces or having anything constructive being on me. I explained to the respiratory therapist that I can't do the bipap but I have a cpap at home that my daughter can bring up and we could bleed oxygen through it. I ended up going on the bipap for over an hour then started to panic which makes my breathing worse. The respiratory therapist had to remove the bipap, and actually just threw the O2 tubing at me and walked out. My daughter brought my cpap into the hospital and I was told they couldn't use it because "it was filthy" my cpap is maintained by the company, every three months I also receive new tubing and equipment . Every week we clean the hoses. So where this "filthy" word came from is beyond me!!! I was also told that my cpap won't even work in this situation. Which is a total lie! I know my body, I have been dealing with COPD for years so how anyone came up with this conclusion is beyond me. It ended up that the nurse came walking into my room and stated, "we can't do nothing for you, you refuse to wear the bipap so I don't know what to tell you." i began to cry and stated i just want to go home. A few seconds later a man walks in. No name tag, nothing at all was stated to me who he was, and he said, "so I heard you want to go home." I replied yes, and he said well you can leave then, you're just going to die anyway. .not once did he say this to me but 3 times. I looked at him and said, who are you talking to me like this? He replied a doctor and walked out. Next thing I knew the nurse stated do you need a wheelchair and brought one in. My daughter came and picked me up. I ended up going to southwest hospital, was admitted with pneumonia for 5 days, and guess what I had that dirty cpap that was used by all the respiratory therapists not one of them could figure out why I was never placed on it or what was even filthy about it. I definitely would not recommend this hospital to anyone!! I definitely will never step through these doors ever again. I did make a complaint to the ombudman who actually seemed like she could care less. I also wrote a letter about my experience with this hospital to the board...
