I went to the PRHC Walk-in Clinic located in Knoxville and was seen by Jana Rus on a Thursday for a severe sore throat. I was barely able to eat or drink. They swabbed me for strep, which ended up being negative. When she came in to see me she told me she wanted to do a covid test. I said my only sympton was a sore throat so I did not feel I needed to be tested for covid. She said to alternate Tylenol and Ibuprofen for the pain. By Saturday I had lost 4 lbs because I was unable to eat or drink anything. My son had to drive me to the Walk-in Clinic in Pella, because I was severely dehydrated. I was seen by Linda Steimling. Again I had to pay a $75.00 co-pay and have another strep test. It was negative. Linda explained to me that there was bacterial and viral strep and I most likely had viral strep. She had seen a few cases that week and it did not sound like covid. She treated me with a steroid injection and instructed me to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen together for the pain. Within 30 minutes I was able to eat and drink normally. Later I complained to the clinic that I did not feel I should have to pay for the first visit because I did not receive proper care. They reviewed my complaint and determined I was responsible for the bill as I was provided with care the first time. I am very disappointed in the quality of care I received the first...
Read moreI wish there was a 0 star option on here! I was very frustrated leaving the emergency room lastnight, first of all we were there waiting in a room just to see a doctor for 4 hrs, second of all the nurse we had lastnight, her name was Dawn, was unbearably rude to my 2 yr old daughter and I. Her entire vibe did not feel good to me she walked into the room with the vibe of frustration like she didn’t wanna be there, this was about 1:00am and she came in expecting a sick 2 yr old to cooperate to take Tylenol, did I mention she was sleeping during this time? she went straight for holding my daughter down instead of waking her up and talking her through it first, it was like holding her down was her very first choice with her, she had 0 patience with my daughter, when she was giving my daughter Tylenol she held her hand over my daughters mouth to force her to take it, I felt she was holding her down out of her own frustrations not out of helping my daughter, I mean it was 1:00am do you really expect a toddler to take medicine with the way this nurse was treating her, maybe if we didn’t wait 4hrs just for the doctor to see her she would have been more cooperative, this nurse acted like she was just there to collect a paycheck not to help. I will be also making a formal complaint to corporate. We will never be going to pella...
Read moreI would not recommend this hospital solely on the basis of their billing department being disorganized.
At the time of my appointment, I informed the lady who took all of my information, that I would be paying cash. I asked what my cash payment would be and she said “I don’t know, we will send you the bill reflecting the discount.” Upon receiving my first bill, it was for the full insurance-billed amount. I have called every time I’ve received a bill asking for my cash price. Each time, I get “We will have to check on that.” I don’t hear from them, until the bill comes again for the same insurance-billed amount. So, the same cycle starts - I call, they say they will let me know or will send an updated bill. Has never happened. Now, I receive a final notice (for the same amount) and when I call in, I get transferred to the Manager Kris/Chris, who tells me my bill is the full amount and will not honor a cash price and they have no records of me calling (I wish I could add a screenshot of my call history I’ve pulled from my phone carrier). On top of that, Kris/Chris was trying to talk over me the entire time.
It’s sad that a few people can put such a bad taste in an organization that actually has good doctors. This is a reflection of poor upper management.
It’s worth the drive to Des Moines...
