DICK'S Sporting Goods — Local services in Petaluma

The merchandise here is pretty good, lots of brands to choose from. Good place to find athletic wear for all ages. Kayaks to cleats, they have a decent array of equipment for a wide variety of sporting needs. The store is large, open, decent lighting and well kept.

All sounds good until you get to the help. On my recent visit I had my young niece with me and she found a pair of athletic shorts she loved. She had birthday money with her and was excited to find a bargain she really liked on one of their clearance racks. Each rack has a large CLEARLY STATED sign which states that the colored dot on the tag entitles the consumer to additional savings "off the lowest price marked". Her shorts had a blue tag, the sign indicated she would receive an additional 25% off her shorts at purchase.

The girl at the register flat out refused to honor the stated discount! She said"it doesn't come up on the register showing the additional discount, so you can't have it". We tried to show her the signs on EVERY RACK, but she refused to honor them and didn't make any attempt to solve the problem or get assistance.

Just in case you're wondering, there were multiple pairs of the exact same shorts on the racks and there were no customers in line behind us. She just flat out didn't care and didn't make any attempt to do a job and assist the customer.

So even though it's a fairly decent sporting good store, I and my niece, will be shopping elsewhere from now on. A business is only as good as the help it hires and trains.

The manager Jonathan is very rude and disrespectful I recently had a relative working there and he treated the woman very unfairly then the men that worked there. he would schedule her on days she had put out as days she is unavailable to work and then continued to tell her if she wanted to have another job where she couldn’t work for these 3 days that she better not call off sick or say she can’t make it in or he’d have to let her go then decided to fire her and his excuse was he didn’t have the hours.when shopping at this store all I see is duffel bags everywhere and clothes everywhere not organized and no customer help anywhere? Although There is a few GREAT employees that work there, Steve he treats everyone equally he’s very nice to customers and helps them when needed and isn’t sexist and rude and...

I dinged a star for not having a bargain rack as expected in a large store. It did have exactly what socks I had patiently waited to turn up following my local Kohl’s first not having (though in its inventory program) then closing down. Also, it had a pair of my work necessity shoes. Having worked in shoe retail, I knew I gave the guy a hard time with little results on his end. He was very nice about what I had to admit and had experienced from his shoes, figuratively speaking . The cashier made the trip funny and unusual.
