I just want to start by saying 1, I never write negative reviews and 2, this was my first haircut since prior to the pandemic starting. I generally have done my own throughout the past couple of years, but decided to splurge since I had a wedding coming up. I did a bunch of research throughout the city to see what would both work well, and what I could afford. When I found this place on Google, I was really hoping for and planning on a great visit given all the reviews here. On the contrary, after my recent visit I will not be returning anytime soon. Despite making an appointment days in advance, and arriving prior to my appointment time, I waited nearly an hour to get to the chair. I found this a bit ironic seeing as though they reached out twice via text to let me know if I cancelled my appointment or didn't show, I could be charged. This effectively told me their time was valuable, but mine was not. When I finally got in the chair, there was not an apology, nor a word out of the barber the entire cut outside of asking for what I wanted. Then, despite having a photo and detailing what I wanted, I was given a Great Clips job of a haircut for triple the price. I had to come home and fix parts myself, which was exactly what I wanted to avoid. Extremely disappointed with the cut and service here, and advise you look into other options for the same, or even lesser...
Read moreAfter reading all the positive reviews I was excited to try this place. I’ve sort of bounced between two other shops in the city and this place has such good reviews I thought it might be the perfect balance between value and money. Sadly I left disappointed with the cut I received. The staff were friendly enough, but did not seem that interested in engaging in conversation. Call me old school, but I almost find that to be essential as part of the barbershop experience. The cut itself seemed rushed with very little attention to if I was happy until the very end. I’m used to barbers checking in 2-3 times during just to double check. At the end, I was not shown the back of my cut as I’m accustomed to. I don’t know if this was just a bad day, but for $45 +tip there are other options in the city where I’ve had much better experiences for a bit more money or even less! I have read many good things about some of the barbers in these reviews, who were not the barber who gave me my cut. I won’t name names in case they just had a bad day. Maybe I’ll come back and try one of the other barbers as sadly I am really disappointed by the cut I received. Upon closer inspection at home, there are a few spots that need evening out and I honestly think a friend with a pair of clippers at home could come close to this...
Read moreI went to V’s Barbershop this week for the first time. I’m relatively new to the area, so I was in need of a new barber.
Like always, I bring a photo of what cut/style I’m looking for as it’s usually easier than trying to describe it. Unfortunately I didn’t get the cut or style that I was looking for. Don’t get me wrong, my hair looks fine but it’s not what I wanted. I think it’s because the barber didn’t really seem too interested in looking at the photos I attempted to show them. They looked for about two seconds, said okay, and then proceeded to cut it obviously shorter than the haircut in the photo.
I also had to ask the barber how they would recommend I style it to achieve the result, what products they recommended, and how frequently I should come back to maintain it. Maybe I come from an overly generous barber, but these are things I feel like a good barber would share with their client without having to be asked several times.
The place is very clean and there are plastic barriers in place to keep customers from having to come into contact with others while they get cut. If you’re looking for a general cut this place might work for you. If you’re looking for something specific, I’d...
