We were customers at Maurice's for a while, but we grew tired of purchasing pieces that were defective. Unfortunately their store policy is very favorable for the seller, but terrible for the customer. (Be warned!) We were finally forced to move our business elsewhere.
Response to owner's response: You may want to check your records again. I did not come in for a watch battery or to have prongs polished! That's ridiculous. I came in to have a bracelet repaired (again) that my husband purchased for me in 2022, which has prongs that snag my clothing every time I wear it.
Also, I DID bring these things to your attention, several times. But your sales people brushed me off.
On the bracelet, I'm sure you can agree that a bracelet that snags (and ruins) clothing each time it's worn is defective. I brought mine in for repair multiple times, including soon after it was purchased at your store, but was always told it can't be fixed. I finally came in on 7/18/25 to ask one last time. The sales agent said it can't be fixed, but that I could exchange it for a different item. She explained your "policy" which I thought meant I'd lose 30% of the purchase price. I told her I'd think about it and come back. I came back several days later and told a different sales agent I had decided on a replacement item and was ready to pay the difference. (While I was there I bought a battery for my vintage watch, for which I was charged $70; usually I pay $20.) This time I understood your sales agent was saying you would CREDIT me only 30% of the purchase price -- even though she knew the piece has been defective since we purchased it, because I've been bringing it in asking your jeweler to please make the snagging stop the entire time I've owned it!
You also didn't mention the earrings my husband purchased for me that had defective posts. Although I loved them, they wouldn't go into my ears. (I've had pierced ears my ears my entire life and have never had such a problem.) I went in and had to exchange them for a different pair I don't like as much. I remember the sales agent being annoyed and acting like I did something wrong when I couldn't put the earring in the hole.
That time I was smart enough to return them quickly and not bother with a repair. I wish I had done the same with the bracelet.
I almost forgot about the gold necklace my husband bought me with a little bar of diamonds across the front. The clasp never did work. I used to put the necklace on, then minutes or hours later I would find it on the floor in my house, in my car, etc. It happened countless times. Finally about a year ago it fell off and I never found it.
I didn't plan to divulge all this detail, but your response required clarification. I hope this saves some buyers from having the same series of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been going to Mauriceās jewelers for many years. However lately I feel the store has hit rock bottom. I stop by Thursday to have to watch batteries put in and have links taken out of another watch. I told the young lady (Sasha) I would have to come back and pick my watches up tomorrow as I was in a hurry. She expected me to leave the watches without a receipt and then appeared offended that I asked for a receipt before I left. When I looked at the receipt I noticed the new watch Had been marked as worn. She had just watched me take off the plastic used to protect the watch. When I came back on Friday ( the next day) to pick them up they tried to charge me another $21 over the original estimate from my watches, When I went out to get my receipt to show them the original Price they said that they had put a battery in my brand new watch. This upset me as now the watch would no longer be waterproof and it is a diving watch, and the links had not been removed. At this point Natasha the manager stepped in and looked at things corrected my bill and told me a battery had not been put in, it was an error. They then adjusted the watch band as agreed. I payed and left. When I got home and put on the watch they had put a battery in and pressure tested the band was backwards. Now I had to drive back to the store to have the band fixed. The manager on duty today ignored the problem and let another employee handle the situation. The managers social skills are obviously lacking! I think it is time to find another Jewelry/watch repair...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAndy and his angels are second to none. They have everything you could ever want: selection, customer service, knowledge and of course, champagne! I have visited this store many times over the years and have always admired the jewelry they have. On my birthday this year, I had experienced a serious of difficult life events and was determined to make it a good day. I decided that I wanted to trade in my old wedding rings for something new and shinier. Here's the catch, I couldn't spend any money. Andy and his angels (as I call them), decided to make it their mission to make this happen. They fitted me with the perfect setting, served me champagne and genuinely cared about me as a person and not just a customer. They served me champagne and had the majority of the team working on me. I felt like I was in Pretty Woman. I walked out of the store with a stunning new setting and a very warmed heart. Spectacular store, spectacular jewels and an even more spectacular team!!!! If only more business and people operated like this. I can't wait to return and spend lots of money over the years to...
