Nestled in the heart of Pinecrest, Florida, Platea Prime Steakhouse & Ceviche Bar is a culinary gem that tantalizes taste buds with its unique fusion of Peruvian flavors and classic steakhouse excellence. From the moment you step through the doors, you're greeted with an ambiance that marries sophistication with warmth, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Platea's Peruvian approach to cuisine is nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish tells a story of culinary craftsmanship, showcasing the vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients synonymous with Peru's rich gastronomic heritage. The ceviche selection is a testament to this, offering a symphony of flavors that dance on the palate. From the tangy brightness of the classic ceviche to the bold complexity of the tiradito, every bite is a celebration of Peru's coastal bounty. But it's not just the ceviche that shines at Platea; their steak offerings are equally impressive. Prime cuts of beef are expertly prepared to perfection, delivering a melt-in-your-mouth experience that carnivores will relish. Whether you prefer your steak grilled to perfection or accompanied by savory sauces infused with Peruvian spices, Platea's menu offers something to satisfy every steak lover's cravings. What truly sets Platea apart, however, is the impeccable service provided by their staff, particularly our server, Ana. From the moment we were seated, Ana's attentiveness and passion for the cuisine were evident. She guided us through the menu with enthusiasm, offering insightful recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. Ana's attention to detail was remarkable; our glasses were never empty, and each dish was presented with care and precision. In addition to the exceptional food and service, Platea boasts an extensive wine list featuring both local and international selections, expertly curated to complement the bold flavors of their cuisine. Whether you're a wine aficionado or simply seeking the perfect pairing for your meal, Platea's sommeliers are on hand to guide you through their impressive selection. In conclusion, Platea Prime Steakhouse & Ceviche Bar is a culinary haven that seamlessly blends the best of Peruvian cuisine with the elegance of a classic steakhouse. A Carnivore’s Dream – An Unforgettable Experience at Platea Steakhouse If you’re the type who thinks you’ve “had it all” when it comes to steakhouses, prepare to be proven gloriously wrong. Platea Steakhouse isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. One that hits every high note from ambiance to service to absolutely unforgettable food. I ordered the Dino Rib, and let me just say this: it’s not just a cut, it’s a statement. Perfectly seasoned, masterfully cooked, and presented like a king’s feast. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill steak—this is a rich, fall-off-the-bone, melt-in-your-mouth kind of masterpiece that makes you rethink everything you thought you knew about beef. It’s indulgent, primal, and deeply satisfying. And then there’s Chris, our waiter, who elevated the entire evening. He wasn’t just attentive—he was intuitive. The kind of server who knows how to guide you through the menu without being pushy, who anticipates your needs before you even realize them, and who somehow manages to make the whole evening feel personal and special. Chris didn’t just serve the meal—he curated the experience. The setting? Elegant yet unpretentious. Sophisticated without being stiff. It’s the kind of place where you can come dressed up for a celebration or dressed down for a serious meat craving—and still feel completely at home. To anyone who considers themselves a steak connoisseur, a foodie, or just someone who appreciates top-tier hospitality: Platea Steakhouse is an absolute must. One bite of that Dino Rib, one conversation with Chris, and you’ll understand why I’m already planning my next visit.

I’ve been wanting to come here since they opened and I finally got the chance. I came here to celebrate my birthday with friends. There were 4 of us. We shared a bottle of red wine. We ordered the ceviche bowl, the fried ceviche, and the grilled ceasar salad as our appetizers. Everything was delicious! I loved the ceasar salad! The fried ceviche was super good! Very unique! The ceviche bowl is pretty spicy- but delicious! As our entree’s we had the branzino, the sea bass, and the prime New York strip steak. As our sides we shared the roasted Brussel sprouts, and the Tallarines Verdes (pasta). Those are the best Brussel sprouts I’ve ever had. I also loved the Tallarines verde (pasta), but I started getting so full, I barely had any. I tried my friend’s sea bass and I liked it more than I liked my Branzino. But my Branzino was good too. I got too full to even eat half of it. The bottle of wine was plenty for the four of us. The wine menu is extensive. They sell by the glass, 1/2 bottle, and bottles. They also have them categorized by country. They have a corking fee, but they have “specials” during the week and one of the specials is no corking fee when you buy a steak. We split the bill in half and it came to $200 each. So, $400 total, or $100 per person. Not bad for the amazing food, wine, service, and for the amount of food! I took home a bag full of leftover Branzino, Brussel sprouts, the pasta, and half of my grilled ceasar salad.

I dine monthly with a group and have been doing so for several years. Last night at La Platea was the worst experience ever. Despite the fact a member of our group that dines there regularly informed La Platea in advance that a group of 20-30 was coming at 6, La Platea apparently wasn't ready. We arrived at 6pm and the doors were locked forcing several of us to stay outside in the notorious So. Fla. Heat & Humidity. After several minutes, they allowed us in to the vestibule area however, we had to wait while they cleared an area for us.

Then there was an issue with payment which caused about a 30-40 minute delay in food being served. Again, they were told beforehand that we would pay individually but La Platea wanted 5 of us to submit credit cards for the entire group. After payment was satisfied, we finally got around to placing orders. Mind you, we are now well over an hour since we arrived at 6. Several of us placed orders but the appetizers arrived in piecemeal fashion. I never received a salad I ordered however, a young lady I dine with was served hers. Fortunately, La Platea serves LARGE portions and she SHARED her salad with us as we were 90 minutes in and several in my group were beginning to get HANGRY. I was served an incredibly delicious glass or Merlot that may have been the best I've ever had IF I had the opportunity to pair it with the NY Strip that I ordered but was never served. About 2 hours in, I asked the waiter for the status of my salad, he looked startled and asked, "Did you order a salad?" He then checked & returned to tell me, "Your salad comes with your meal".

It was at this time I began to realize something was amiss. La Platea was simply not ready to address our large group. I also saw various patrons walking in, & being seated & served immediately. I gave La Platea several additional minutes and NOTHING. 2 hours 15 minutes in and I became so hungry that I walked over to the Pinecrest Bakery and ordered 2 Chicken Croquettes just to satiate my hunger. I returned to see many in my group still waiting for their meals. I asked to speak to Management and told them I was ready to leave. I was comped my Glass of wine but regardless, I PAID them for it because I don't want anything FREE.

I simply want to be treated fairly and last night my group was not as they also left because they were not served the food they ordered. The salad I ate was great. The Wine was OUTSTANDING. The atmosphere awesome.

The service at La Platea left me with a...

I really wanted to love this place. I mean, steak… ceviche? What could be better? It’s nearby and new. I had to try it.

Well… TL;DR Don’t order the Benedict on Sunday.

Story time…

Got together with the ex in-laws and popped in for brunch, my treat! They ordered ceviche and some oysters. I ordered the Santo Benedicto, a Benedict with salmon. The waitstaff was swift and professional. Order done, mimosa inbound.

The oysters and ceviche came out first. I was ok waiting… in hindsight, I should have questioned, but I didn’t.

When I got the Benedict, I was impressed. Two hollandaise-covered stacks with a heaping mound of greens between them. I dipped my finger and quickly tasted the sauce. Perfection. I was excited… until I cut into the first stack.

Runny egg-yolk wasn’t the only thing spilling out. I got that feeling I was dealing with an undercooked poached egg right away, though years of being a baby about such things kept me from complaining. After finishing the first half of the Benedict, however, I saw what I was leaving behind… mostly egg whites, and what I HAD eaten was REALLY overcooked salmon. I had a bite of the salad… oil-covered greens. No flavor.

At that point, I placed my knife and fork down, parallel on the plate. The waitstaff was coming around and asked about the meal. I answered honestly. Overcooked salmon, undercooked poached egg and carefully swiped the hollandaise off the very top of the second stack, revealing an egg that we could see the yolk of, through barely white albumen. It was almost completely transparent.

The waitstaff and management took care of the issue right away. I have no issue with them, whatsoever The food? No… it actually made me mad.

You can cook a piece of salmon, poach an egg, and toast an English muffin in about the same amount of time… why did I get such an uncomposed dish? I’m going to chalk it up to a bad day on the hot-line.

The in-laws where “meh” with their ceviche. Last straw for me. I decided to write a review - not about the front of the house, they are great and filling their positions admirably… back of the house, not so much.

I would suggest hiring a good chef, one to oversee the mess on Sunday.

I will not return. Expensive mistake, even if my...
