Arhaus — Local services in Pittsburgh

It is hard for me to write a review for Arhaus that is brief enough that people will actually read it. For those of you reading and saying TLDR, let me sum it up for you: top notch customer service throughout the entire experience and fabulous furniture that we are thrilled to own!

My husband and I worked with Patricia at the Arhaus in Shadyside. She was fantastic. She was friendly, but not pushy, while we initially perused the store. We were pleased with the variety, styles, and quality of the furniture and decor items we saw. After discussing our thoughts with Patricia, she scheduled and did a free in-home consultation with us.

During the consultation she could see the sizes and shapes of our rooms and the existing furniture items that we planned to keep. She also made note of what we really needed to help our spaces function better (more book storage, anyone?) and she took photos of our fireplaces and some of our art and prints. She then integrated all of that information and some of the pieces we liked in the store into design photos so that we could see how different pieces looked together and how they looked with our art and fireplaces.

We emailed back and forth as we narrowed down our choices and her replies were always timely and helpful. When we went into the store to meet with her again, we had made most of our picks, but needed help with a few final pieces and with picking out fabrics that would stand up to our lifestyle. She was great! She even threw in the idea of a desk that I hadn't even noticed in the store the first time and probably wouldn't have chosen for myself. I decided to give it a try and, frankly, it was an amazing spot on pick for the space and my favorite piece of furniture in our whole house.

As some of the custom pieces would take longer to manufacture and deliver than others, we chose to have our furniture delivered as it became available. So, we got three different deliveries - no extra charge! Everything was delivered in the time frame that we were told to expect and the scheduling and delivery staff were courteous and as careful as they could be given some of the narrow spaces they had to get through in our 120 year old house. When our console table was damaged in transit, they gave us the option of taking that one and using it while a new one was shipped from the factory. Again, at no extra charge - just to help give us something to use while they obtained and delivered the replacement. Taking care of a problem before it becomes my headache - priceless.

I love the furniture but the customer service is horrible. I ordered a snugg chair in November, the chair arrived at the store in the wrong color not sure if it was ordered wrong or what happened. The staff never bothered to check the order and it was until we arrived home and opened it that we realized it was wrong. I requested an exchange and My new chair did not arrive back until March! The chair did appear on my card right away as if I had received it in November. I was told they would call me when the chair was in and I had to be chasing them to ask about my chair. When the chair finally arrived at the store and it was time to pick it up the manager was rude, among other things because we did not know the exact name of the chair. For the price you are paying, customer service should be stellar! And orders should be on time and accurate. I will certainly try to avoid this store...

I can’t begin to tell you how very pleased we are with our purchases from Arhaus in Shadyside. My husband and I love each and every one of the new pieces that we have purchased from them for our new home. The only thing that would surpass the lovely furniture is the designer that we worked with….Elizabeth Johnson. She is an amazing person, so easy to work with, is hugely talented and very flexible and knowledgeable about the furniture and designs that she chose for us. Her suggestions and opinions were very helpful and she always kept our budget in mind. I would not hesitate for one minute to recommend Elizabeth to anyone looking for expert advice on furnishing their home whether it be for just one piece, a complete room or the entire home.
