O'Reilly Auto Parts — Local services in Platte City

I visited the Platte City store on the 22nd and when I checked out the counter person Gavin wasn’t particularly helpful. I questioned the total because the tags on the shelf were obviously wrong, he didn’t even bother to check. Just said that was what it was. I didn’t particularly like his attitude. The only reason I go this place is it’s closer than Smithville., where they have reasonably intelligent people. I have been here several times and still no Veterans Discount. I mean what the hell, I only did 20 years. I guess I’m not up to their standards! I asked for the managers number and have called three times and had Gavin answer and put me on hold . No answer. I’ll never go back. Hello AutoZone!...

I actually love this store. I have been shade tree mechanicing my vehicles for many years and O'Reilly usually has, or can get what I need. The employees in this store seem to have a revolving door, and except for a few, are mainly HS students. There is nothing wrong with this as they are generally very polite and just as eger to figure out a solution as I am. Over the last couple of years, however, the store's level of cleanliness and organization really seems to have gone downhill. This is an auto parts store, so it doesn't need to be spotless, and the cleanliness doesn't affect the service but they could at least take pride in their store and look like...

My partner walked in with an extremely simple question, and was treated like an idiot by an older gentleman with a gray beard there. My partner, a man with multiple years experience working on his personal vehicles and college experience with diesel engines, came in to inquire about getting his codes cleared. The man responded to him with short, condescending answers. "Nope." .. why not? ... "Our new devices don't do that." ... "Maybe you should actually fix your stuff."

We just bought a car two days ago and needed the codes cleared in order to diagnose and fix whatever the issue actually is. Really not impressed with the low brow treatment my partner...
