I'm a local to Puesto restaurant and a regular attendee since a attend City Sport in the Veranda daily. I would frequent Puesto after my daily gym session.
The service lacks in attention even though it's usually about 5-20% full when I usually attend. The food is not the best but they do have a great ribeye taco and great chips and salsa.
I rarely ever post a positive or negative review, so what prompted me to post this negative review was my last experience at Puesto. I was at the bar with my wife having my usual ribeye taco and IPA, just having our usual regular after gym snack. Nothing exciting happening, pretty empty bar and restaurant.
Suddenly this guy comes up behind me while I'm sitting at the bar and tells me that he would like us to leave the restaurant. I was not sure if he was joking and was unaware that he worked at Puesto. He repeated himself, so I turned my head to look at the guy and I noticed that he was a Puesto employee and that he was serious about us leaving. So I asked him for a reason for the request since we were just chilling.
We are not loud, argumentative, nor confrontational individuals. We always just keep to ourselves. We have never been kicked out of any establishment.
So he's answer to my question was, and I quote, "we are a private establishment and we don't need to give you a reason, I just need you to leave. Don't worry about the tab, we will take care of it. We just need you to leave now." I was shocked to say the least. We got up quietly and left. I was not going to argue with someone that clearly does not want us at his establishment.
The individual that kicked us out was a caucasian male about 5'10", trimmed beard, short blond hair and pissy looking at that time.
I will say this though, even though this is a private establishment, there are anti-discriminatory laws that protect people from discrimination against race, color, religion, sex, etc. I don't believe that any of those reasons is why we were asked to leave, but to ask us to leave without an explanation makes me wonder why we were kicked out. We were not being disruptive or violating any house rules. We probably had two drinks and two tacos, so I don't understand.
Based on how things went down, I could have legal recourse under anti-discrimination law given that there was no apparent reason to kick us out, but I'm not that kind of individual. So all I will do is leave an honest review of Puesto and our last experience there....
Read moreThis must be my biggest disappointment of the year for restaurants. I've been wanting to come here for the past year. Seen the reviews, past by and its usually busy. I finally got the opportunity to try this place out during a hot summer day. I put my name in and found a chair next to the fountains while I waited to get that text that my table was ready. Finally, I get the text and walk in and talk to the host. We get taken to our table and given our menus. First off, I notice that this place has a great ambiance, from the bar and above it, to the lighting and the art on the walls. Then I'm looking over the menu while we are waiting for out waiter. I notice that the menu is very limited in selection. No big deal as long as they can deliver on that menu that hits above expectation. Our server comes and brings us water and ask what we want to drink. I end up ordering a bottle a Puesto Perfect Margaritas($52) and an order of Chicken Taquitos ($17). My bottle of margarita came and right after so did our taquitos. The margarita was good, but nothing special. I drank the whole bottle and barely noticed. The taquitos were good, but definitely not worth almost 6 bucks a piece. We ended up not ordering anything else and decided to go some were else for lunch and drinks. Our server was friendly, helpful and overall great. This is why I was so disappointed. This place looks and feels great, and service is excellent as well. But the limited menu, mediocre food and weak drinks that we experienced lets us puzzled. This place is in a great location, with great décor and great service, but then falls flat on all other metrics. For us, this was a one and...
Read moreWe stopped in after a movie next door. I had wanted to stop there but then saw the advertisement during the previews and that made it easy to stop in. We first stopped at the bar while waiting for a table which wasn’t long given the time we arrived. Great service all around, from entering to leaving staff was awesome. We ordered Quesadilla Gobernador and guacamole to start, quesadilla was great, guacamole too, chips and salsa had been brought to table a very generous amount. The salsa looked like something I would make, real good except it or the chips were a little too salty(for my old butt) We then ordered Birria, Enchiladas Suizas, Shrimp la plancha Green Pozole, and Lobster, carnitas, baja fish and ribeye tacos. The tacos were fantastic, with the exception of the Baja fish(compared to the others) especially the ribeye and carnitas, super tasty! The main dishes were tasty, but super overpriced for the amount of food. About of cup of food on the plate. The pozole was dry, tasty but no caldo like one is accustomed to at home. The birria also was such a small portion for what was charged. $36.00 birria,$33.00 pozole, $27.00 enchiladas suizas(my favorite) and $36.00 for shrimp. The tacos were $10.00 for ribeye and baja fish, $9.00 for carnitas and $16.00 for lobster. Gobernador quesadilla $20.00. My family agreed it was too pricey but would return on a Tuesday (when tacos are less) for...
