My husband and I played during the week, the first day of a golf getaway. First impression was a good one. When you pull up to the bag drop all employees were friendly and hospitable. The grounds were well manacured. We played the white tees, based on the scorecard's printed length of 6,000 yards. GHINs posting was 5900 but the length we actually played was closer to 5500. The rough was long as the course is preparing to host the LIV event. Pace of play was fine- about 4hrs 20 mins, we were paired up with two other singles. We really enjoyed their company. The greens were very slow, this could have been due to the very hot, humid weather. At the turn we stopped to use the restroom but it's state was so deplorable I walked right out. Overall, I can now say I have played it, but I won't be back. The layout is very similar to the old St. Johns' courses. On the second day of our teip we played Forest Dunes-costing $165. The course was much more enjoyable. Save your money and play at Shephard Hallow, Moose Ridge, or...
Read morePlayed three times in last 4 days while staying at the hotel. It is a nicely conditioned course with good quick greens. Front 9 looks like newly designed holes while back nine appears to be holes from prior to renovation. One restroom on entire course is a negative. Tees are not placed where you will play the course at the correct scorecard yardages. They aren't even close. There are no tees for #12 and #15 which correspond to the white tee yardage as shown on scorecard. The white tees were placed 70-80 yards shorter on those holes than they should be. I was told they have a dress code but saw a woman in blue jeans and sandals and another day saw two guys in tee shirts. Really ? For $150 on weekdays and $175 on weekends ? When the staff get their act together and it becomes priced more reasonably, this course will be okay. Put the tees at the correct yardages so people can play the tees they've chosen. I would bet that ,today, the white tees, which are supposed to be 6100 yards, were set up at...
Read morePlayed for the first time yesterday after having frequented Saint Johns in prior years. I will start by saying that everyone in the pro shop, the starter, and the rest of the staff was amazing - top notch service. The course is in immaculate condition and the grounds crew obviously does a great job. The two things I was disappointed in were the lack of changes to the course and the price. There were very few changes made to the course itself. The back 9 has one hole that is not identical to the previous design. After all of the hype surrounding it, I was not thrilled with the outcome. The course is very expensive, especially to non-residents and it does not provide enough value for the cost. Northville Hills across the street is a better course across the board and is significantly cheaper, as is Golden Fox down the road. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed the course but I would not pay more than $80 to play it even in...
