update After receiving a response and explanation I believe I let my frustration get the better of me. The explanation provided is exactly the transparency and honesty I appreciate. This is a prime example of how this review process should work. I respect the staff's autonomy, and definitely do not want to make a plea to authority claim. Was I upset, yes, did I make a strongly worded review, yes. Was the leadership communicative, absolutely. Did this change my feeling, yes. I feel heard and I understood. Thank you. This would be a great place, but I was lied to and it cost me my whole day off. For the last 2 days I have been coming in to get a feel for this game store. It's the only one in town so you will go there... However, they no longer buy single cards, which the counter human told me. I mentioned that this was not the same information I was given on Wednesday and Thursday this person did not care. Stood their ground and said no. Poor communication? They seemed confident so I am inclined to think they had a directive given To them. Drew told me they would buy cards over a $1, which is why I asked specifically about it on Wednesday and Thursday when I was there in person. I spent my entire friday going thru the remainder of my cards, It took me all day but I did it. Then I get there on saturday the counter person assures me they are no longer buying cards. So I wasted my entire day off for literally lies, I won't have a choice but I will have to go back...
Read moreSells broken equipment, we purchased a PlayStation 4 recently and it kept going into safe mode and erased my fiancé’s game data. The owner himself said he “tests the game consoles” but when we got it and plugged it in at home it directly went into safe mode and saying it needed a huge software update from a flash drive that didn’t come with the PS4. We asked the owner if we could return this to him the next day and he would not give us a refund and proceeded to try to fix it, we had to wait a week to get our PS4 a NEW INTERNAL HARD DRIVE, while he was attempting to install the internal hard drive he dropped the PS4 on the ground in front of us in the middle of the store behind the counter and tried to act like it never happened. After he replaced the hard drive I asked him what is he gonna do about the cracked shell of the PS4 HE had broke, he proceeded to offer my fiancé $25 when a shell is $50 used and $80 brand new. The PlayStation was priced at $240 and came out to $260 after tax it was sold as a used PlayStation, we found out after he had fixed it new PlayStations were being sold new at Walmart for $269. This place is a Cheat when it comes to systems. If I could give less than one star it would be negative ten. PLEASE ASK TO TEST GAMES/CONSOLES BEFORE PURCHASING...
Read moreI have been going to Anime Kat since 2016. We play Magic the Gathering there often. Since the Pandemic of course activities have calmed but the amazing removal that took place during that downtime has given the store the facelift it always deserved. Beautiful. Lots of products for all walks of life and gaming. I peruse the Anime while waiting for my next pairings or look at board games. I see whole families come in and check out the store. Watch kids excited for their first pack of Magic or Pokémon. Parents that have no idea where to start, get all the help they could ever need from staff (and anyone of us who’s there to Chime in and help stoke out the kids).
This is what we do. What we live for. The Gathering, not just the Magic! Thank you Drew for providing us a safe, non judging, store to enjoy our game and hone our craft. Just remember, support your local game store. They are not easy businesses to turn a profit and it really depends on the daily patronage of the store goers. If you go to play in the $5 tournament, buy something. Show your support. So that we can continue to enrich the lives of those here on the peninsula in a...
