As a local, I have never given a 2 star review to a local business. I chalk most bad expierence to a bad day, being busy, etc. But to charge $27 to scan 20 pages (not print. No paper. No ink) is near a moral wrong. Additionally, not to tell someone prior is bad business.
Back story- I print here all the time. Plans, pamphlets, black copies, color copies-tons. Never had a bad experience. Today, after they rang it up, I spoke with the new owner who bought it and asked how they justify $27 for a scan when to print at 23¢ a page would $4.60. How does a scan and email cost 6X. I told them I felt it was bad business and not right. Honestly didn’t seem to care much.
I may have a NEED to use this business again for a short turn around, but if I can wait 2-3 days for delivery, I will actively try not to.
Very sad to see this out of a business I have always supported and enjoyed.
Edit: In response to the businesses reply “ many of our services are convenience-based”—- I guess that’s my point. Someone needs to scan something, and they drive to do it, it’s probably important. So you charge and outrageous amount (6x) over the printing cost though it’s equal labor and less supplies. It’s the principle of the matter for me. It feels wrong. Adding a little I totally understand, maybe even double. But 6 times is...
Read moreBe very careful to ask for the full breakdown of what they will charge you for their services or, like me, you will end up paying more than you expected. For me, it was $2.18 for one black and white copy. When I was in their store signing up for another service, I asked about having copies made. I was told, sure, no problem, just send them the file to the email address on their business card. Easy peasy. No mention that just to open that email - something they call internet service - was going to cost me $2.00. When I called to complain about this charge after the fact (someone else picked up my copy for me and paid this exorbitant fee), I was told it is customary and done by many such printing services. I have sent emails with files for copying to other companies in the past and never once been charged for having them open my email. Let's consider that it took them maybe a minute to open and read my email. That then means they are charging this service at $120 an hour. Those are great rates if you can get them. They did from me, unfortunately. In this case, I have no choice but to chalk it up to buyer beware and hope someone else doesn't make the same mistake. Ask for all fees, even those you may not know...
