Lovely pool complete with little crabs running around. They've traveled some distance to be there! I've been here twice now, once for deep water aerobics and once for shallow water aerobics. Both classes were good (Thanks to teacher Selina). The pool is a good size with designated areas for different things. The lap swim area breaks the pool into two parts, the open swim area and the slide area (deep water). There are two slides. The open swim area has a beach-like slope you walk down to get into the water. There are three or four lap swim lanes that are open 8a to 5p. Open swim is from 1p to 5p (I've not been here for this yet).
The pool deck has tables with umbrellas and chairs. The changing rooms have toilets, showers, and changing stalls. There are lockers (bring your own lock). It's a lot nicer than I was expecting.
Signing in and paying are no big deal but there is a fee and the pool is...
Read moreThe community swimming pool is my favorite place to workout when I am in Port Aransas. It costs $2 per swim ($1 for seniors). The sparkling clean, 25 meter pool is ideal for swimming laps. It is heated during the winter months. It is not crowded. I usually have a full lane all to myself. The sunny pool deck is a very pleasant place to enjoy the sunshine after your swim. There is a covered patio with picnic tables located adjacent to the pool area. There is a grassy area with playground equipment next to the covered patio. Across the parking lot is a popular dog park. Also cross the parking lot is the entrance to a paved walking trail that winds through Charlie's Pasture, a wildlife refuge. The trail is about 2 miles long if you complete the entire loop. The trail is especially beautiful at sunset. Picnic, walk, or swim, the choice is yours! Highly...
Read moreThis is a great pool and gives a nice break from the sand and salt. I bring my kids to the island every year for 4th of July and we always go here at least once.
Pros: beach entrance, play area and slide for even the youngest kids, as well as a deeper area with a larger slides for the older ones. They also have lanes for laps. Large locker room. Decent amount of covered seating. Ample parking. Playground and skate park on site too!
Cons: cash only to get in, playground is kinda small (younger kids don't seem to mind), and my biggest problem????
Their hours of operation are minimal! 1-6pm during a holiday weekend is kind of silly. I would much rather take my kids for an all morning swim before lunch, or stay out of the dangerous afternoon sun and come for a later afternoon swim into the evening, but they don't make...
