Pistils Nursery - Northwest — Local services in Portland

The shop is fully loaded with plants and a staff that is fully loaded with knowledge. I came in just to check out some pet safe options and Rachel showed me a variety of plants that were non toxic to my cat. My favorites were the Hoya’s that happened to be 20% off. I came back a couple days later and Lindsay helped me pick out the perfect pot and macrame plant hanger for the Hoya that I wanted. I even brought in two small plants that I bought somewhere else and needed help repotting, she showed me how to do one so I could do the other on my own. After going home and hanging up the Hoya I went back to Pistils because I couldn’t stop thinking about this crazy Begonia they had in the front window. Joey helped me pick out another smaller Hoya for a great price. She also helped me wrap the plants so I could safely transport them home in my backpack. I got 3 really big healthy plants & two beautiful pots for a great price as well as answers to every question I could think of. If you live in the neighborhood ask about signing up for points. Sat. 3/18 we were walking around Slabtown, when we stumbled upon this lovely shop. The door was propped open and our dog led us in actually! All the plants look healthy and lush. Super modern space with high ceilings and upbeat music. The staff helping us were extremely knowledgeable and helpful (we had a lot of questions). 10/10 customer service, wish I got their names to add. They were out of potting soil and apologized, but told us to bring back our plant and pot and we could have them repot it for free next time. Thank you, Pistils, for the new plant and nice experience to start our weekend. Treats for the pup is always a plus, too. We’ll be back! Edit: Our plants have been doing wonderful. I've been a huge fan of Pistils for years... and now I don't have to cross the river to get there! This little outpost of their beloved shop on Mississippi is packed with houseplants and tasteful handmade home and garden goods. The main difference between the two locations is that this one seems to have exclusively indoor plants (most places in this neighborhood don't have outdoor gardens anyway). Their plant selection changes pretty often which makes the space feel very dynamic and alive. Also, the people working the shop are very knowledgeable about plant care and have always seemed eager to help me find something that will work for my space, much of which has very limited natural light.
