1 star cuz there's not a 0.
So, first of all, the hotel charged us for parking in their own lot. There is no continental breakfast (which after seeing our room, we wouldn't have attempted it anyway). Advertisement says clean rooms... Nope!
Ok, here we go.... First of all...Walking "into" the hotel, there was a jar of pickles broken, scattered and smooshed all over the parking lot (it will prob neva eva be cleaned up). Every entryway to every room has torn up carpet w some sort of white residue. And the walls coming down the hall were filthy; all a pleasant prelude to your room☺️
Wait for it........Are ya ready??
There is a strong astringent odor coming from the air conditioner. Our bathroom had mold all over the ceiling, and the shower walls covered w a scummy film. The floors left our 6yr olds feet black. The pillowcases had hair on them. The plastic cups weren't wrapped ewww! The soap were tony slivers, but at least were wrapped. The furniture and lampshades were super old, worn, "filthy" , and broken. There was weird black furry hair clumps on the floor. Hair on the light fixtures above the sink (half of which were blown out). The beds were squeeky and on wheels lol. I didn't even take the chance to look in the coffe pot!! And our door wouldn't close, we had to use some force, then practically lift it to lock it.
But hey, the tv was nice😆
I took pics, but couldn't add em on this review thingy
PS - just go somewhere else, even w charging for parking and not offering breakfast...they still don't have enough money...
Read moreWe came for Pride weekend and stayed at Shilo Inn for a combination of reasons (proximity to downtown, closeness to the light rail, price comparison to other hotels in the area). The proximity bit was wonderful. It's a quick walk to the nearby station, so travelling downtown was very easy and inexpensive.
The staff was also awesome. The two gentlemen that checked us in were friendly and helpful in suggesting good seafood restaurants around town for us to try. And the hotel was very clean, which isn't as common as I'd like it to be.
However we probably won't ever stay here again. The bathroom is so small, our tall friend had to stand in the tub to shut the door because there wasn't enough room between the toilet and the doorway to close it. We didn't get very restful sleep. We could feel the bed springs digging into our backs while we slept. The refrigerator's freezer door was missing so even with it turned all the way down, our food was frozen in the morning and a couple of our bottles of Snapple had exploded.
The key reader on the door only worked half the time. Online websites advertise the hotel has a sauna but it does not. The sauna has been turned into a storage room. And the WiFi they offer is useless. They might as well not even advertise it because of how slow it is.
Honestly, if you're a below-average sized person who only cares about a bed to sleep in with no regard to quality, you probably won't mind staying here. Other than that, I'd suggest...
Read moreSo, I should have listened to my instincts and booked at a Hilton or Marriott property, I've stayed at Shilo locations in the past that have been nice. This is NOT one of those nice locations. It was very dirty. Front desk staff will only talk to yo awhile you're outside through a little banking style window. So customer service really isn't there and that should be a HUGE red flag about the area it's located in. The room: Very gross carpet. Stains on the furniture. Scratch and dented furniture from the 70's, torn and broken shower curtain, black mold on the grout, hair dryer didn't work, musky smell, no screens on the windows, and MISSING SMOKE DETECTOR in my room...just wires hanging out of where it should have been. How is this ok? Broken microwave in my room too so had to swap it out with another rooms microwave. The bed was decently comfortable, and power plugs were hard to find the few that they did have. I feel like I should almost get a refund for how horrible this place was when I visited (August 2022). The area: there is a 7-11 right next door with security at the front door. Was told we couldn't enter after 7pm since they close the store to only Door Dash orders. Homeless people everywhere (it is Portland after all), made me think twice about having my truck left in their parking lot overnight since ethe hotel doesn't have any security. I will not stay here (and at this point, no other Shilo Inn locations) until a complete remodel and all these...
