I had a great stay here. The rate was good the room was really nice for the low cost and the front desk clerks were ALL really nice and totally helpful. My service animals were welcome and the dated decor was actually cool in a "Shining" kinda way...(I'll post pics eventually...) The only drawbacks were; the sort of loud MAX directly outside on the street below my room (that was on the second floor, but the drapes helped drown it out) and the unexpected cost of parking (was an additional $10/day.) The parking however, although it was a surprise, wound up being well worth the extra expense as it was well lit, and had a number of spaces in a parking garage-like area that provided protection from the rain, had cameras, and was monitored by the desk staff 24 hours. The hotel security was also good so I felt safe having my vehicle there despite the neighborhood having some potentially sketchy riff-raff milling about as well as some mentally folks hollering at all hours. (The MAX gives a lot of people an easy rapid exit from the area that is regular & frequent creating what has historically been a potential easy getaway for thieves and other petty criminals,) Despite any concerns I had about the above I felt secure staying in the Inn. My room was a good size with 2 very comfortable queen beds, a desk and a comfy chair a nice TV as well as a nice ice bucket, good ice, mini fridge/freezer, a coffee pot with complimentary coffee and creamer sugar etc as well as a microwave and even a hairdryer. The bathroom had a closet area with the sink and mirror and the tub and toilet were in a separate room. Water pressure was good and endless hot water was appreciated. They provided sample size shampoo conditioner and soap but used environmentally friendly packaging and both the room and the linens were immaculate, in addition to being of higher quality than i expected at the low nightly rate. No smoking throughout the hotel provided the place which may have been seen as dated with a fresh clean smell and so the dated decor felt nostalgic and cool not dilapidated and run down as some older budget motels can feel. The cable was nice to have as the last several places I have stayed had awitched to streaming services that were terrible and Di's not work reliably. WiFi was free in the hotel and was both reliable and speed was excellent especially when compared with my experience in several other national chain hotels/motels where their service was not set up properly to be utilized by the guests.
All said I had a good stay and would both return again and recommend this motel to others as an excellent choice on a budget! In fact it was better than some of the fancier places I've stayed in Portland. The staff went a long way to give me this feeling. Every one of them was super friendly...
Read moreThe staff were very kind, my main issue is with the property itself— some furniture in the room was unkept and felt like it was falling apart. My service animal got fleas from the carpet in the room so we had to give him a bath as well as get flea treatment for him. The sheets had stains on them and our window had a large crack running up it. There is a lot of noise from the streets from the rail and emergency services but that’s to be expected in the middle of the city—But the biggest problem we had was that our door didn’t lock— you could walk right in (without swiping the key card) I called the hotel to inform them of this and they said that they would send the crew that fixes these issues to come fix it while we were gone and that they would call us when it was finished — they never called and when we got back 8 hours later the issue was still present and stayed that way for our entire stay. Upon check out I mentioned it to the staff again and he said that they will have their manager contact me about the issue to see what they can do to rectify the situation but I haven’t heard from them. Unfortunately the issue probably won’t be resolved and we won’t be returning. They also tried to charge my card a second time when the payment in full was still pending so they tried to take 800$ from me when the stay was only 400 or so, the pending payment dropped off as they do but I was told at check out they wouldn’t charge me until the manager called me and we figured out something but they still haven’t called but charged my...
Read moreWhen we arrived at the hotel, there was no one at the desk and we waited with another guest for a while before someone came to check us in. The check in process was very lengthy and we were faced with a lot of additional charges that we weren't warned about before. They make sense for the area but it would have been nice to have the additional charges listed prior to checking in. We were also told that we were getting the last room available even though we had booked over a month in advance.
After we checked in we went up to the room to find that is was absolutely disgusting. The room smelled of cat urine, and the garbage was filled with rotting food and was clearly not changed when marked clean. We also noticed ashes on the floor, stains on the side of the bed that were white and crusty and the bed was unmade and actually looked like it had been laid in or slept in.
We immediately left the room and went back to the desk to checkout since there were no other rooms to which the concierge informed us that we could not get a refund but that he could switch our rooms. I said that there was no way we were staying there and since we needed to find other lodging at short notice that we would expect a refund. I was told that they couldn't do a refund but that the manager would call me to discuss what happened and that he would then give us our money back, but we have yet to hear from anyone...
